Derric awoke abruptly, disoriented and shrouded in darkness, a room devoid of both windows and doors. His own identity remained intact within his memory, as did the details of the meal he had partaken in at a Chinese restaurant the evening before. However, the events leading up to his confinement in this unfamiliar enclosure eluded his memory.
With a sense of growing unease, Derric rubbed his eyes and began to explore his confining surroundings. The room's harsh concrete walls offered nothing in the way of clues or comforts. His sense of disorientation deepened as he stumbled upon a small, cryptic engraving etched into one of the walls, bearing the inscription, "Test Subject 4."
A cry for help escaped his lips, only to be swallowed by the eerie silence that enveloped him, amplifying his fear. Hours seemed to blur together as Derric sat upon the unforgiving concrete floor, his mind racing with thoughts of his predicament, his heart pounding in the face of the unknown. When fatigue finally overcame him, he surrendered to exhaustion, descending into an uneasy slumber.
Each time he awoke, the ritual repeated itself—exploration, desperate cries for assistance, and restless slumber. After seven interminable days of this dismal cycle, Derric had become a specter of his former self. Weak, dehydrated, and consumed by gnawing hunger, he bore the visage of a walking skeleton.
It wasn't until two and a half years later that an investigator stumbled upon the grim remnants of Derric's fate, concealed within the decaying structure of an abandoned warehouse. In an adjacent room, they encountered a row of twenty-five dilapidated computers, each mirroring the warehouse's state of disrepair. One monitor, however, flickered dimly to life, displaying a haunting camera feed that recorded Derric's inevitable descent into extinction.
