Kalia's P.O.V

Everything happened so fast. River had his way with me. Against my will. I tried to get away and failed, and the one thing I wanted my fated mate to take from me is gone. I was saving myself for Max and now he’ll never want me again. He gently strokes my hair, proving my negative thoughts wrong. I’m more scared of what River’s done to me than what Max will do to me when he finds the mark on my neck. Yep that’s right, River marked me. Everything he did to me in just a short amount of time hurts me in my core.
Kalia, Max still loves us!  Karin tries to tell me. I ignore her, and keep quiet as I lay curled up on the floor of my once grandest achievement. I try to go back to happier memories, but get nothing. River has officially destroyed my life and my chances of ever being happy again. I feel Max’s hand still gently stroking my head. I don’t know how he manages to put up with the nightmare known as my life. I finally stop trembling and slowly start to sit up. River had done a number on me and I know Max is mad. At who? I don’t know but I don’t want to stick around and find out.
“Kalia?” Max’s voice is a whisper. I feel so guilty. I know that this incident will only complicate my relationship with Max so I do the only thing I know how to do, I reject Max as my fated mate.
“I, Kalia Stevens, of the Southmoon pack, reject-” Max kisses me. He pulls me close and kisses me, deeply and passionately. When he pulls away his expression is serious but gentle.
“Dont. I’m not letting you go, I’m not going to love you any less because one wolf in my pack decided to be stupid and hurt you. I love you Kalia, no matter what happens to you I’ll always be there to rescue you, I’ll always be there to protect you, I'm not going anywhere. You are WAY too important to let go of that easily,” Max says. His words melt my heart as he pulls me into his lap. I snuggle into his chest. He then kisses me again and pulls away after a few seconds. “H-He marked me,” my voice comes out in a soft whisper. Max looks at me and smiles.
“We can fix everything he did to you,” Max whispers back and nuzzles his nose into my neck. He finds where River had marked me and starts licking and nibbling at it.
“What are you doing?” I ask.
“Shh, it’s okay baby, I’m going to re-mark you. No one marks MY mate except me,” His possessive growl sends shivers down my spine as he pulls my hair away from my neck. He gently bites into the mark River had left behind, re-marking me as his and only his.
