Max's P.O.V

I fish the ring from my pocket as I sit there on one knee. “You and I have been through so much, I know I was impatient, I know there are things neither of us can take back. But I want you to know that if it wasn’t for you I would never have been this happy. I won’t make any promises I can’t keep but I can promise you that I will always love you and your baby. I consider you both my family and I want to make that fact true.” I manage to say without breaking into tears. “Kalia, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” I finally ask after a few seconds. I watch her expression closely, she covers her mouth in shock and starts tearing up.
“YES!” She practically screams it out and throws herself at me. I laugh and pull her close, placing the ring on her finger. I hear joyous howls coming from one side of the garden. Kalia and I watch as Courtney, Collin, my parents, and some of the staff members emerge from the shadows.
“I uh didn’t realize we had an audience,” I laugh and Kalia simply hugs me, wrapping her arms around my neck.
“Let them enjoy this with us.” She says and then kisses me, in front of everyone. I’m not embarrassed but it would’ve been nice to get a heads up that they were all watching. I take Kalia’s hand and lead her away from the small crowd.
“Where are we going?” She asks, following me closely.
“You owe me a dance,” I say confidently as we enter the ballroom of the castle.
“And how do you figure that?” She questions further.
“You ran off after our first dance, I didn’t get to ask you for a second one because I was too busy chasing you through the woods.” I answer, teasing her lightly and pulling her into my arms. I give a nod to the violinist I had hired and begin to dance around the ballroom with Kalia.
I had forgotten how graceful my mate is at dancing, she follows my lead but she still seems like a better dancer than I could ever be. I twirl her around, her dress flows with the wind as I pull her back to me. Eventually everyone who was outside with us comes into the ballroom and starts dancing alongside us. Kalia doesn’t say much, she just lets her dancing do the talking.
We did it! I honestly had my doubts but we managed to get our mate! Mitch howls in my head happily.
That’s not all you guys got, it’s Karin’s voice in my head and I stare at Kalia in surprise. I notice her eyes went from green to golden brown for a second.
“I hate it when Karin does that,” Kalia whispers, her eyes return to normal and she explains that Karin is telepathic but hardly ever uses her power. I shake my head and smile.
“Nevermind that. Shall we continue to dance the night away?” I ask and Kalia nods. I twirl her again and pull her close as we waltz around the ballroom all night.
