Max's P.O.V

I watch as Kalia turns and runs to me. She jumps into my arms and hugs me. I can sense how happy she is and it’s definitely a change from how she was before.
“Careful princess, the baby could get hurt.” I say with a slight warning in my tone. She giggles and tries to tickle me. “Hey! What are you doing? Stop it!” I can’t help but burst out laughing. She laughs with me as I gently grab her arms, stopping her from tickling me. I pull her to the bed, lay her down, and tuck her in. I kiss her softly on the lips before pulling away. I see her smile and then yawn.
“I love you.” Is all she says before falling back asleep. I smile and lightly kiss her forehead before leaving to go find Collin. I check the stables, the barracks where the royal guards sleep, and finally find him in the kitchen with Courtney.
“Did she settle in?” Courtney asks.
“Yeah she’s resting, I need to talk to you and collin about something.” I answer and I see both of them perk up with interest.
“What can we do for you Max?” Collin questions, wrapping an arm around Courtney.
“Well firstly, Collin, I'm relieving you of your duty as Captain of the guard.” I watch his face grows concerned so I ease his fears. “It’s not what you think, Kalia’s bakery needs a new owner and I know being on the guard can take you away from Courtney. So I’m giving you a way out, A way to spend your life with Courtney and live the simple life you’ve always wanted.”
“Are you sure this is what you want Max? I mean I'm honored, really I am but I've been on the guard nearly my whole life,” Collin says. He's unsure but then Courtney looks at him.
“It would be nice to know that you're coming home every night,” She tells him. I see him nod.
“Then it's settled, Collin you can take over Kalia’s bakery, I'd entrust this to no one else. But now for the other reason I need your help. I'm planning to propose to Kalia but I don't know how to go about it, I need ideas.” I speak softly and I watch as Courtney's eyes light up.
“Before Kalia’s rejections she’d talk for hours on end about how she’d want her mate to propose and how she envisioned her wedding to be,” Courtney comments happily. And for the next couple hours Courtney talks and plans things out with me. We devise a plan for me to propose later in the evening during a picnic in the gardens behind the castle. There's a spot near the center that’s more romantic than anywhere else in the world. The more we plan, the more excited I become.
“I have to go check on Kalia, but I think we have a good plan going.” I say, Courtney nods and I then head for my bedroom.
