"MOM! PLEASE ANSWER ME!" I screamed at her voicemail for the third time. My hands began to shake in my hands, and I was choked up on tears in fear of what may have happened to my mother, my youngest brother, and my baby. They hadn't picked up their phones, and I was ordered to stay in my apartment by my father. Trust me, I tried to leave, but as soon as I opened the door, I was pushed back and had the door slammed back in my face by two huge guards.

I was well aware of what was happening down under the Triborough Bridge, and just thinking about it made my stomach hurt. The thought of losing my brother or the only man that gave me serious feelings, was worth falling on the ground and banging my head over and over. If I had to choose only one to come back, it would be my brother without a doubt, but Adonis... Adonis gave me reasons to want to sneak out like a teenager. He gave me reasons to disobey my dad. He made it easy for me to allow a man to be around my daughter. He gave me reasons to wake up in the morning.

My cell rang, jerking me back into reality. I picked up immediately. "Hello? Hello?! Mom??" I was short of breath again.

"Raja, honey, calm down." My mom answered. "Take some deep breaths." I followed her instructions, then jumped back into panic mode.

"Are you guys okay? What's going on over there?"

"Everything is fine, baby." She replied. "Well except Taki fell asleep with a gun in his lap. That's new," she chuckled. "Your father has the entire perimeter of the house on high security. It's like a movie. Helicopters, S.W.A.T.-like cars, searchlights. It's crazy." She laughed again. She was seemingly enjoying this, and it was making my skin crawl.

"Why are you taking this so lightly?" I scoffed. "TJ is in so much danger right now! Where's dad? How is he handling the groundsmen? Like, why are you not tripping out right now, mom?" I was becoming angry.

"Honey, if you only knew." I could feel her shaking her head on the other end of the phone. "Of course I'm scared, but not as much as you are. Your father isn't stupid enough to put your brother in that much danger. TJ may think he's in charge, but every man beside him already know what they're doing. This isn't your father's first time in a situation like this. This isn't even his biggest war. You should have seen the one when I was pregnant with you." She chuckled. "Against those Italians, sheesh, I almost miscarried." She sighed. "The point I'm trying to make is that your dad knows what he's doing, and those rival men will be swept out and dealt with by the end of the night." I sighed in relief.

"Good. Thanks mommy. And Nani?" I asked.

"Sleep as usual." I smiled knowing that she was safe.

"Thanks again mom," We said our goodbyes and hung up.

Beginning to think my worries were gone, my body nearly collapsed with the sudden realization of the fate Adonis could be facing. I was so stupid to forget how my dad operated. I searched through my call log as fast as I could until I got to his name. I called and it went straight to voicemail. I called again, and again, and again, and again.

Let the panicking begin once again.

A more frequently. This chapter kind of sucked. Probably because I haven't written anything in a while. Anyhow, thanks to those who stuck around and anticipated! Much love 💓 COMMENTS MUCH APPRECIATED! Votes too ☺️
