"You have a car right"

I turn to grab my keys, "Where do you wanna go?"

"Gas station a couple of minutes away"

As I say yes, I see a smile grow across his face - the smile that I had missed so dearly. He raced down the stairs, put on his shoes, and got my car ready. I ask him to pull up the directions and play some music, and he does just that. As we arrive to the gas station, Chris rushes to all the junk, and I follow close by. I picked out a monster for myself as it's one of my favorites and me and Chris walk up to the register.

Chris went to pull out his wallet when "oh shit..." he responds.

"What's wrong?" I ask him.

"I forgot my wallet. I'm sorry." He said as he turns to me.

"No it's fine, stay here." I tell him, as I rush into the car to go and get my card. I swipe it.

"Thank you!" He says, pulling me into a hug.

"Chris?" I say, as we exit the gas station.

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry." I say.

"What?"

"I hurt you"

"Rose - I don't want to talk about this."

"I didn't want to leave you."

"Rose," he says, throwing his head in his hands.

"I had to."

"You know you didn't have to."

"I was afraid of you leaving me"

"We both know that's not the true reason Rose."

"I loved you so much" I said, throwing my hand on his shoulder.

"You mean nothing to me anymore. Your apology means nothing to me" He says, throwing my hand off his shoulder and turning away. I can feel a tear fill up my eyelid, and his does the same. He quickly wipes it off, trying to keep a shield over his true emotions.

"You didn't call me, text me, send me a letter. You didn't say a word to me. I deserved something." He says.

"I couldn't bring myself to"

"Why."

"I was selfish."

"I need a real reason."

"Because if I did I knew that I couldn't live with myself. I didn't want to ruin everything. I didn't want to see the hurt in your eyes. I wanted you to go find someone else, someone better- but I didn't want to witness that."

He shakes his head. "You have to let me get over you."

"What?"

"I love you- and there is nothing that I would ever want then for our love to last forever but we have to let each other go." He says, caressing my cheek.

"Can I say goodbye?" I say, tracing my finger along his jaw. I could hear his heart beating, and I'm sure he could hear mine as well. As the realization that this is going to be the end of us floods over me, I pull him onto me. As our lips touch, I am raced with the previous memories of what we had before. All those previous moments, that I thought were everlasting. I try to pull myself back to what is happening, but I couldn't bare to. This is it. We're officially over.
