Iggy continued to fly in and out of the guild hall to give reports on what was going on. Everyone was fighting everyone, and whoever was left over got taken out by the Thunder Tribe, though not in any fair way. Natsu continued to try shattering the Jutsu Shiki barrier that Freed had put up and began to actually use some of his magic against it when he heard how Gray had been defeated by Bickslow.

"Still no word from Erza, then," Kai said as Iggy flew back out, the cat getting a little more tired. He stood at the edge of a table next to Gajeel, who had his arms crossed and head bowed.

"That Laxus is a coward," the Iron Dragon Slayer said. "Gives the old man a heart attack then goes on to keep us locked up in here."

"Coward or smart, I'm not sure which," Kai said. "If he wants, he could just have the Thunder Tribe ambush the three of us at any given moment." Realistically, Kai wasn't worried about them. Evergreen's magic was dangerous but his training with Hades would help him against that and probably Bickslow's magic. Freed's magic could be dangerous but if it came down to a three-on-one fight the math worked in their favor significantly. "Or torch the Guild Hall in a bolt of lightning."

"That fire would only give Salamander a nice meal," Gajeel said.

"And then what?"

Gajeel snarled and shook his head. "I'm getting tired of waiting. How's Erza not found Freed yet?"

"She might've fallen into one of his enchantments and keeps getting stuck fighting other people," Kai said. If that were true, this would take much longer than three hours. Erza wouldn't fight another guildmate unless absolutely necessary—he knew that much from experience.

Gajeel grunted as if trying to hold back some laughter. "Under different circumstances, I wouldn't mind getting stuck in a room with Salamander for a rematch."

"Same," Kai said, then side-eyed Gajeel. "But for you."

"Oh is that so? You want a piece of me? Well then come and get it, ice boy, because it seems like we're not going anywhere."

"No." Kai shook his head. Gajeel's apprehensiveness wasn't all that high. He didn't seem on edge at all. "No, I don't want to fight you just to fight you, Gajeel. I want to spar with you and train with you to get stronger than you."

"That's not going to happen."

"Are you going to keep getting stronger?"

"To beat him." Gajeel pointed to Natsu, then Kai did the same.

"I beat him," Kai said.

Gajeel hesitantly nodded, drawing in a long breath. "Oh, right, the Clover Town thing. When I heard about that I got a little disappointed. You were holding out on me. You held back in our fight."

"I did. I can't control that form perfectly just yet. I'm working on it."

"I want to see that form to compare. I need to know exactly where I stand to compete with you and Salamander. Otherwise, I'll never be strong enough in the guild."

Kai leered at Gajeel, who spoke a bit quieter, rather than brash like normal.

"You're holding something back from us, aren't you, Gajeel?"

Gajeel pursed his lips. "What if I am?"

"You should tell me. Like you said we're not going anywhere. And I'm your guildmate, so, you can trust me."

Kai shifted so he fully faced Gajeel. So he had nothing to hide. Gajeel rolled his eyes, then did the same, reaching into his pocket and revealing a small device. A radio.
