A/N: Hello! I've returned with the second chapter of this story! There's some more awkward chatter in this one, backstory and such. We haven't reached DirkJake or JaneRoxy territory yet, but it should be coming up within the next few chapters! (I don't know how long that will take though... :/) Anyway! I hope you enjoy this chapter, if you see any spelling or grammar errors, feel free to tell me, and again, I apologize if the characters are OOC! Maybe if you have helpful hint on how to make them more in character, you could share to make the experiance more enjoyable for everyone! Again, enjoy! :D

Chapter Two
There was barely a time gap between exiting the tundra and entering the next level. Just like the level was loading in a normal video game, but much shorter of a time period. However, when he did enter the next level, he fell into a rough patch of grass. He only remembered the push on his back when Dirk hopped through behind him, landing on his feet next to his small form, still on the floor.
"What are you doing on the floor, English?" Jake couldn't quite tell, but there was something in his usually stoic voice that told you he found the whole thing funny. He did push him after all. Yet, he reached out a hand to help Jake up and he took it.
"Level two, boys. Do either of you remember this one?" Roxy asked, glancing at them as Jake was helped up to his full height, barely as tall as Jane.
"You need to find materials for a bow and arrows, if memory serves." Jake answered, looking around level two. It was a vast jungle with large trees and vines all about. However, it was raised up and surrounded on all sides by water, being about fifteen feet above the water. There were targets to the north that you had to shoot with five arrows before you could move forward, and it doesn't matter where you hit them, as long as you do make contact. However, after a little while, the southern part of the jungle starts collapsing into the water.
"I'll get vines for the bow strings." Dirk offers, moving so quickly Jake barely saw him and off into the jungle trees.
"We'll need at least twenty arrows if we're all accurate..." Jane pondered quietly, gathering sticks and twigs from the jungle floor.
"We'll need arrowheads of some sort." Jake started. "And something to stabilize it as it flies."
Soon, the whole group was gathering supplies. Roxy was in charge of nice long and flexible sticks and branches for the main bow, Dirk with the vines, Jane with sticks and leaves for arrows, and Jake with arrowheads. However, he quickly realized that they could just sharpen the tips of the sticks and took a handful from Jane, sharpening them slowly and unevenly with rocks.
Dirk returned to where Jake was sitting and made a sort of quiet groan. The blonde pulled out his katana and sat next to the shorter, sharpening the sticks with ease. They sat in an awkward silence of Dirk quickly sharpening and Jake going just as slow as he had been. This was until Roxy returned with a few branches that seemed decent for making bows with. She took some of Dirk's vines and started securing them to the branches, and soon, Jane returned and was able to take the sharpened sticks and start attaching the leaves to the bottoms in an attempt to imitate feathers on real arrows.
"So, Jake?" Jane called the boy's attention. "Where are you from?"
"Oh, golly. Well, I live out on an island in the Pacific." Jake explained.
"If you live out in the Pacific, where did you get your accent? I guess I just assumed you lived somewhere in England?" Jane continued, finishing her first bunch of five arrows.
"My grandmother used to live there. I've lived with her all my life, so I suppose I just picked it up."
"Huh. Well that's actually quite interesting! I just live in Washington with my Dad." Jane explained. "It's probably a bunch more fun to live out on an island."
"It's capital! There's plenty of adventures to be had all the time!" Jake responded, smiling widely as he turned to Roxy. "What about you, Rox. Where do you live out in the real world?"
"New York with my mom." She said, focusing more on her work with the bows than the actual answer.
"Well New York must be exciting. What's it like living out there with your mum and sister?" Jake questioned and she sighed.
"It's okay, New York, I mean. But my mom's rarely even home. She's a famous writer, and goes out on tours to sign books or something. I mean, it's cool and all, but I wish she was home more often." Roxy explained, smiling. "My little sis, Rose though. She's something. She and Mom have some sort of weird passive-aggressive thing goin' on and they're both basically super weird. We used to have a cat, too. I liked to call him Frigglish, but Rose called him Jaspers. Cool fella." Roxy trailed off after that and there was a silence between all of them before Dirk spoke up.
"Not going to ask me where I live, English?"
"Well, gee, if you want to give out that information, Strider that would be wonderful." Jake said, stopping his work on sharpening a stick to become an arrow and looking towards the blonde.
"I live in Texas with my Bro and Dave." Dirk began. "Bro's cool. We strife on the roof, the three of us, sometimes. It's okay. We stay pale as shit, though. I have no clue how that works, but it does." He stopped abruptly.
"You strife on the roof? How does that work?"
"Well we take some swords, like this." He raised up his sword in example. "And we fight each other with them."
"With real bloody swords! By golly, that's insane!"
"Keeps us all ready for any shady business. No one could ever successfully sneak up on a Strider." He finished his last stick and looked around them. "Ground's collapsing behind us. We have a decent amount of arrows and some bows. Should start heading towards the targets."
"Sounds like a plan." Roxy agreed, handing out the bows she had made to each of them as Dirk passed out five arrows to everyone.
"Hope you all have good aim, we only have one extra." The blonde stated, handing the last one to Jane.
"Why do I get the extra?" she demanded.
"These two have guns and I'm hoping they have some sense of aim." Dirk responded with a couple "hey!'s" in the background from Jake and Roxy. "I can fire five arrows and hit a target, too, so you're the only one who might need them."
"Fine." Jane huffed as they continued walking along, chatter between the two girls filling space. There were a few enemies, to which the four fought off, and a few players who tried stealing their materials. To this, Dirk was the one who noticed and threatened them to leave or be killed. Only one person tried fighting the Strider and lost, resulting in his death.
"Strider!" Jake had yelled. "You can't just kill someone like that!"
"I gave fair warning, Jake. If he didn't want to die, he shouldn't have charged at me like that." Dirk shrugged and the girls didn't say anything on the matter. Though he didn't say anything, Jake was still upset that Dirk had just outright killed a man.
Eventually, the four reached the far north side of the math with a couple hours to spare. Jane fired her arrows at a nearby target, hitting with all five on the first try, and leaving one for the other three in case they needed it. Roxy came next, firing with near perfect accuracy and fading from view as she was transferred into the next level. Dirk watched as Jake fired, hitting with perfect bulls-eyes for four of his shots before he watched Dirk hit the target four times as well, just with slightly less accuracy.
"As you said, English, wouldn't want to keep the ladies waiting." Dirk said finally before firing his fifth arrow and fading away. Jake quickly followed behind with a fifth bulls-eye, and he faded from the second level.
