They had a quidditch game today and Regulus, asides from being sore from last night, hadn't gone to quidditch practice in a good amount of weeks.
He sat on his broom as they had one last practice before the actual game, and he felt a bit dizzy, probably because he hadn't eaten in days, but it didn't matter, he only had to find the snitch, it was simple.
He saw a little bit of gold in the air and he immediately started moving towards it.
After about 15 minutes of chasing the snitch, he finally catches it.
He lifts his hand with the snitch and a whistle is heard, signaling that practice is over as he had found the snitch.
They now have half an hour to rest before they play against Hufflepuff.
Regulus decides to spend that time by sitting in the locker room and reading one of his books.
"Let's go," the team captain says and Regulus gets up and follows him into the quidditch field.
Once the game starts, he feels dizzy again.
He sees the golden snitch after a while, but as soon as he moves even the slightest bit, he sees black dots and the sound becomes muffled, but he forces himself to follow the snitch.
He catches it, and as soon as he does so, he feels himself falling and he can't do anything to stop his eyes from shutting.
When he wakes up, he's lying in a bed and madam Pomfrey and professor McGonagall are standing next to his bed, seeming worried.
"What happened?" He asks.
"You passed out and had a broken rib, which was already healed," McGonagall answers and he looks down at his hands.
"We noticed that you're too thin for your height, why is that?" Madam Pomfrey asks and he still doesn't look at them.
"I don't know, it's just the way I always was," he lies.
"When I brought you here I could feel every single one of your ribs, that's not normal," McGonagal tells him and he doesn't say anything, he just keeps looking at his hands.
"Have you been eating?" Madam Pomfrey asks and he nods, "do you throw up after eating?" He shakes his head.
"Mr. Black, if you are lying to us, we will be forced to use extreme measures, your current actions could cost you your life, please tell us the truth," McGonagall tell him and he nods.
"I'm aware," is all he says, and he can feel the slightest bit of annoyance emanating from the two ladies.
"I don't think you understand what professor McGonagall meant, she means that if you don't eat and keep hurting yourself, you could die," madam Pomfrey explains.
"And I said that I know that," he repeats as he still doesn't look at them.
"You will spend the Christmas holidays here, I will notify your parents, I will personally make sure you are eating and you will have weekly checkups with madam Pomfrey," McGonagall said and the boy finally looks at them with wide eyes.
"Why? I already said I'm okay, I'm not lying," he insists.
"If you're aware that your current actions can kill you and you keep doing it, then you're not okay," madam Pomfrey says and he looks back at his hands, but he's quite annoyed.
"Can you at least not tell my parents why I'm staying here?" He asks, then he starts biting the inside of his cheek.
"I'm sorry, but we have to tell them," madam Pomfrey says and he starts to panic only a small bit.
