Regulus woke up with arms wrapped around his waist, and his first response was to panic, but when he remembered that it was James, he relaxed and just melted into the embrace.

He didn't get up, despite how bad his back was starting to hurt from lying on his side, he didn't want to wake James, he was sleeping so peacefully.

Regulus knew when James woke up, because the hug tightened and the griffindor yawned.

"Good morning!" Regulus said with a small chuckle because of the face James made when yawning.

James just playfully grunted before he buried his head in the crook of Reg's neck.

Regulus turned around but James didn't move at all, so now there was a mess of dark brown hair just above his shoulder, and chocolate coloured eyes were looking at him with a hint of adoration and were a bit swollen due to the fact that the boy had just woken up.

Everything seemed perfect, and Regulus almost forgot about everything that had happened this year.

Almost.

Barty was woken when his father barged into his room and just slapped him hard enough for his hand to leave a mark.

"You stupid bastard! I always told you that if you messed up to obliviate anyone involved, but you just had to be enough of an idiot to leave Regulus Black, of all people, with his memories!" The man yelled. "I feel ashamed to shared both my first and last name with you! If you knew you were going to mess up the way you did you should've at least chosen someone no one would care about, but no, you had to choose someone from the sacred 28! How thick  is that head of yours? Is it thick to the point no brain fits there?"

"I'm sorry," Barty mutters, looking down.

"You should be, because now you have to go to the ministry, and you'll be taken to a room where you will be asked some questions," the man says, grabbing him by his upper arm and making him stand.

James left the slytherin dorm and common room under his invisibility cloak, and stayed near Regulus.

When they reached the great hall, James wasn't under the cloak anymore.

As they sat down, McGonagall and Slughorn approached them with worried expressions.

"Mr. Black, I'm afraid you are needed at the ministry, they didn't tell us exactly why, just that it had to do with... your situation," she told him and he looked down, scared that they were going to call him liar again.

"I will accompany you to the gates, but after that, you will be left with your parents, who will take you to the ministry," professor Slughorn tells him and he feels sick.

"Do I really need to go with my parents?" The boy asks.

"The letter from the ministry said you must go accompanied by your parents or legal tutors, so I suppose, simce you uave parents and they are waiting, you should go with them," McGonagall says and Regulus just looks down as James puts a hand on his shoulder.

He was technically disowned, but his parents never made it official, so they were there by obligation too.

"Okay," is all Regulus says.

Professor McGonagall nods and sends a smile to both boys before she leaves, but professor Slughorn stays.

"I know you don't have the best relationship with your parents, so I'll give you a couple minites to take a few deep breaths before we go," the man said, but he didn't leave his spot in front of the two boys, he simply looked at his clock.

"I don't want to go," Regulus told his boyfriend who just brushed his curls with gentle motions so he wouldn't accidentally hurt the younger boy.

"I know, but if it has to do with what happened, then maybe they got some more evidence," James suggests.
