Madelyn slouched down as she sat on the bench in front of her piano, the sound of her pen against the paper and humming sounds being the only sounds in the room. She sang out the last few notes of her latest song, the melody seemed to capture every single emotion she had been feeling the past few days.
She closed her eyes, letting the music swirl around her mind, trying to find better options. The lyrics were very personal, as her songs usually are. That's why people loved them , they could relate to her.
A knock at the front door pulled her from her thoughts. "Come in," she called, standing up and throwing her song book onto the couch. The door creaked open, her two best friends stepping inside with a warm smile on each of their faces as they noticed the notebook she had just thrown. "Finished another masterpiece?" Evelyn asked.
Madelyn giggled, feeling a mix of both vulnerability and pride at having someone important to her be excited about her writing. "Maybe. It's hard to tell."
Gracie crossed the room and sat herself on the edge of Madelyn's couch. "Well, I can't wait to hear it. You always put feelings no one can explain into a perfect and catchy melody." She said, giving her best friend a smile.
Madelyn felt a warmth in her chest at the compliment. Her two best friends had been there through it all, a constant source of support and inspiration for her. "Thank you guys. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"You'd still be amazing," Evelyn replied with a grin. "But maybe a little less sane."
The three laughed before Evelyn cut them short. "Now, tell us everything!" She said, making Gracie nod her head in agreement.
Madelyn rolled her eyes playfully, pretending to be annoyed, but in reality she was excited to tell them how great Brock was and how happy she'd been.
Madelyn moved over, settling herself into the cozy armchair, her eyes sparkling with excitement, which did not go unnoticed by the two girls. Gracie and Evelyn sat comfortably on Madelyn's soft white couch opposite of her, both having eager expressions on their faces.
Madelyn grinned, "it was so much fun, you guys, Seriously." Evelyn leaned forward, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Details, Madelyn! We want all the details." She said, Gracie nodding in agreement once again.
Laughing, Madelyn began thinking back to her night with him. "Well, first off, we went back to his place first to change into dinner clothes" She began, Gracie and Evelyn nodding.
"Then he drove us there, and it was so good, I need to go again. The food was so good." Evelyn giggled. "Sounds like he knows the way to your heart, food."
Madelyn laughed, her smile widening. "Duh! But, the best part was just talking to him. We had the most genuine conversations about basically everything. We were just getting to know each other"
Gracie leaned back with a genuine smile. "That sounds so perfect, Madelyn. I'm so happy for you!" Madelyn replied, smiling back at her best friend. "I can't remember the last time I felt this comfortable and happy with someone. It just felt easy, you know?"
Evelyn and Gracie squealed, making all three of them laugh. "Then?" Evelyn said, pushing her to continue. "Then we came back here and he let me borrow comfortable clothes, hence my outfit." Madelyn explained, pointing to the clothes she was wearing.
"Oh my god i didn't even notice that's so cute." Gracie said with adoration filling her eyes once more.
"Then we got snacks and watched a movie and cuddled, and I ended up falling asleep which i didn't mean to, but so did he" She explained the end of their night.
"God this is like reading a romance book. He sounds so sweet. Keep going!!" Evelyn said, her and Gracie being giggly as she did so. "Then we woke up, and we made breakfast together, ate, and relaxed for a little while and just talked, and then he drove me home" She finished.
"No kiss goodbye?" Evelyn asked her. She shrugged. "I kissed his cheek, I didn't want to push things too far. It's only our first date." She explained, though she wished she did kiss gim.
"That's understandable. Did he mention a second?" Gracie nodded. Madelyn's cheeks flushed a cute shade of pink at the memory. "He did, we're gonna plan it out someday this week maybe."
The three girls all squealed once again, all excited and happy for their best friends.
"Did you see all the comments and stuff?" Gracie asks, hopefully not killing the mood down. Madelyn rolled her eyes and nodded, "Yeah, we looked at it all together. I thought he was going to be angry, but he didnt care." Madelyn explained.
"Mads, not everyone is going to be like Andrew. He was a jackass. Brock is nothing like him, don't worry about that" Evelyn said giving her best friend a reassuring look.
Madelyn nodded, sending her a smile. "I know, It was just a concern at first. But he said he has no reason to hide it. So if he doesn't mind, I don't either."
Gracie and Evelyn smile. "He sounds great mads. You deserve a relationship you don't have to hide. You're like a mini Travis and taylor!" Evelyn said, clapping her hands excitedly, making the other two girls laugh.
For the rest of the evening, the three girls stayed in Madelyn's apartment, chatting about Brock and about the album that was coming out in almost 2 weeks.
They talked about how many of the songs she had written since she got home, obviously, were love songs, inspired by Brock.
Madelyn needed help with deciding if she should run them by him first, which they ultimately decided she should, but not to actually play them for him so it would still be a surprise.
