The shops were decorated in pink and red when they had gone to purchase a new dress of her date.
Anika had dressed in her best dress possible. She had especially gone out her way to buy this dress for her first date, for Valentine's.
She looked in the mirror, before turning to her best friend who also was her roommate, Mallika. She twirled in front of her.
"So what do you think?" She asked. Mallika just stared at her with a open mouth.
"Oh my god! Anika! You look drop dead gorgeous." She gushed. As she moved around her eyeing her.
"Mohit is surely losing his senses after seeing you." Mallika bumped her best friend. Anika smiled at that.
He had said to meet her at the famous restaurant owned by the Oberois. It was an expensive restaurant. Plus, getting a reservation there was hard. Especially on special days like this.
Mallika dropped her off to the restaurant before she went to meet her own boyfriend.
She stood at the entrance of the restaurant looking around. She couldn't see the sign of Mohit. She waited for him for about twenty minutes or so. She thought maybe he was stuck in the traffic. It was valentine's day, so traffic was the probability.
She decided to wait inside because it was getting awkward for her to wait outside. She spotted a group of boys staring at her laughing. They seemed familiar.
She frowned, ignoring them she moved inside.
The waitress walked up to her with a smile.
"Do you have a reservation, Ma'am?" The waitress asked.
"Yes."
"Under which name?" The waitress enquired.
"Mohit Chauhan." She spoke.
The waitress searched for the name in the register she was holding.
"I'm sorry, Ma'am. There is no booking with that name."
"Can you please look again?" She was getting anxious now.
"No, ma'am." She said after she scanned the register again.
"Look by Anika Trivedi" she asked. Maybe Mohit has made the booking in her name.
"I'm sorry ma'am. There isn't any booking." The waitress said apologetically.
"Can I make a booking now?" Anika asked.
"I'm sorry ma'am. We're already booked for the night." Was what she got replied with.
She realized why the boys were laughing. And why they seemed familiar, they were from her college.
She observed what had happened.
She got stood up.
Her phone tinged. Their college's gossip group has tweeted something.
