Walking into the beautiful Los Angeles was like listening to your all time favourite song for the first time for Nettie, she had dreamed longingly to finally fuck off from her small town in Australia to Los Angeles, longingly meaning only about 8 years, since she was 15.

She had always dreamed of roaming the streets of downtown la, seeing Hollywood, famous people and most of all, all the shops, shows and places where alternative people could thrive, she had never even been to a hot topic before now, considering Australia is extremely close minded and peoples eyes bulge out just at the sight of fun coloured hair, this was all she ever wanted.

"Henrietta Steins?" The front desk clerk at the dentist office said.

She hated her name, Henrietta, sounds fancy right? wrong. Nettie was named after her late great aunt whom her mother loved dearly, who died from a methamphetamine overdose at 37.

Of course her mother would've loved her so dearly considering the same happened to her, just 10 years earlier. Nettie was, unfortunately, old enough to remember this, as her mother was known to sleep with lot of people and had little Henrietta at only 16, making her 11 at the time of her passing.

Henriettas dad was a whole other story, after her mums passing the court ordered that she has to live with her dad, Jeremiah until she was of age, the thing is her dad was completely unaware of Netties existence or the fact that the girl he had a one night stand with 11 years ago was 16. Jeremiah was a whopping 38 when Nettie was born, the absolute guilt he felt over this was nothing compared to the guilt he felt when he found out he had a daughter.

Jeremiah was an exceptionally sweet father to Henrietta, that was until a complete bipolar narcissistic bitch of a woman, manipulated herself into their lives and eventually Jeremiah's head.

Florence Burgess and her two daughters, Daisy and Petunia moved into her house when she had turned 16 and life spiralled downhill for her. Daisy and Petunia were both a lot younger than Nettie, being 10 and 11 at the time they moved in and they were very good at people little brats but angels in Florence's eyes.

On Netties 18th birthday she had planned to go out with friends but Florence convinced her dad that she was going out to do drugs and have an orgy because, in her words, 'the apple doesn't fall far from tree', this enraged Nettie as she had spent months planning her birthday and they knew that.

The final straw for her was when she was 23, still living at home because Florence refused to let her leave because who else would do borderline everything in the house. Nettie was sent to pick up, now 18, Petunia, from her graduating party. As Petunia got in the car, Nettie was certain she was defiantly high but not on marijuana, she finally got her to spit out the fact she had in fact done fentanyl.

Only 5 hours later was Petunia found face down on the carpet dead. The hospital told Jeremiah and Florence that she in fact overdose on fentanyl and that they had found multiple harder drugs in the young girls system including, both Heroin and Morphine both 50-100 times less potent as Fentanyl but just as dangerous.

They all blamed, Henrietta of course, though she never did had any past with drugs, other than marijuana, they still believed that she either fed them to Petunia or infected her brain with ideas, none of which were true. Nettie didn't care that nor Daisy or Florence believed her, but her dad taking their side had a little kick, but she didn't care, she had no feelings, no remorse, no love for this so called family she was barely even apart of.

She was kicked out, but this was like an end to a world war for, pain in the past, freedom in the now.

"please just call me Nettie" She smiled at the receptionist and made her way to see her orthodontist whom she's only seen once so far was she only had bi-monthly check-ups.

"Nettie, my darling, how is your second month in LA' Dr. Cruel, was quite the opposite of what her name would tell you, she was very found of Nettie, always reminding her that she has the same name as a song she loved and how much she loved her style.

"you know theres a punk show on at The Smell this Saturday night, I thought you'd be interested"
