Jake had finally released his new song 'FEVER' which Johnnie was apart of. One lyric really stuck out for Nettie

"this is a love song for a girl who will never know its about her"

this exact lyric was in another song that Nettie held dearly to her heart Looking out for you by Joy Again, a song that reminded her of when she was 14 back in Australia.

The other thing she found weird was, who exactly was Jake talking about, He hadn't mentioned anyone to her unless its just a lyric, even if it was it weird its from a love song she had mentioned to him.

Jake had been itching to tell Nettie the truth, not wanting to keep lying and keeping secrets from her as much as she was as well.

Jake was at Netties house, planning to tell her his feelings when his thoughts were interrupted by Netties phone going off through the speaker, a message reading.

HENRIETTA STEINS,

You are due to have your bi-monthly dental check up at ONE PM TUESDAY, please reply with a tooth emoji to secure your appointment.

THANKS, DR. JUANITA CRUEL.

"Henrietta?" Jake was stunned at this new found information.

Nettie walked out, smile fading at Jakes expression. "Henrietta huh?" he stands up and walks toward her.

Nettie is backed into the bathroom door, Jake hovering over her.

"so when were you gonna tell me huh? another year?"

"I was never planning on it, dont go by it so why would I?"

"because were best friends, Nettie, we usually tell each other our names?"

this time Nettie step forward, looking up.

"best friends huh? your new song seems targeted, Jake"

"who says its about you?"

"who else?"

Silence.

"im named after my dead drug addict auntie, my also dead also drug addict mother loved her."

Jake was stunned, he knew her mother was dead but didn't know she had a history of drug addiction.

Nettie ended up explaining her experience living with her dad and step family, Jake felt much empathy for her, saddened that such a sweet, beautiful soul had to go through that but glad that it led her to him.

He could help her, save her, make her feel the love she yearned for, the love she deserves, he just has to push through the thick wall of anxiety stopping him, he was going to today but scared to ruin the intimate moment between the two he stopped himself, letting Nettie do all the talking as he listened intently.

"I'm here for you, Sweetheart" Nettie hugs Jake tightly engulfing herself in his tall, broad build, he leans down and kisses her on the forehead. "always"

Jake hopes that his actions could put an idea into her head that he is indeed infatuated with her, his plan works tremendously because as they were hugging all other thoughts left the girls mind leaving only him swimming around in her mind, his eyes, his voice, his face, his laugh, his hands, his smell, the way that they're closer than ever before in this moment, sure, they had hugged multiple times but never this close, this intimate, never with a kiss, even just on the forehead in any of the moments.

The pair could both feel the undeniable tension between them in this moment but both of them too scared that this moment would end and never happen again, to move, to talk, anything. They both wanted the same, for this moment to happen everyday, everywhere with each other.

Jake decides to speak up finally, answering the question she asked twenty minutes prior.

"the lyric is about you" Nettie looks up through her eyelashes at him, smiling sweetly.

"is it really?" He nods, debating whether to kiss the girl who is innocently looking through her eyelashes at him, her thinking the same but not wanting to stand of her toes and training her neck to even reach high enough to, thankfully, Jake takes the lead.

"yeah, who else?" He chuckles mimicking her from before, he looks deeply into her eyes, cupping her face in both his hands,

"who else could be as beautiful as you, Nettie? who else could I be so fucking infatuated with that they never leave my mind, no one, that who else, its only you, its always been you"

He leans down, putting his lips against hers, fireworks exploding in the pits of their stomachs, cheeks red, breathing slow. Letting their lips perfectly flow together, like finding the missing puzzle piece.
