SANA's POV
She woke up to the sun streaming through her window, its warmth kissing her face. She loved this feeling—each morning, it felt like a gentle reminder that a new day was beginning.
Stretching slowly, she got out of bed and adjusted her hijab, ready to recite her dua.
"Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee 'ahyaanaa ba'da maa 'amaatanaa wa'ilayhin-nushoor."
After the prayer, she zoned out, her mind momentarily rebooting like a computer. Suddenly, her mother's words from the night before echoed in her thoughts.
"I know, but you could do this as a side business. You're talented enough to do both. Right now, focus on your future, my rose. Imagine how proud you could make our family. You have so much potential."
Determined, she decided to go for the interview her brother had mentioned.
She stood up and made her way to the bathroom, eyes still half-closed, fumbling for her toothbrush.
Just then, something caught her eye—a cockroach scuttling across the wall.
"AHH!" she screamed, eyes wide open now.
Salman, busy in the next room, rushed over when he heard her scream, panic written all over his face.
"What's the problem, princess?" he called out, concern lacing his voice.
Sana flung open the door, her heart still racing, to find Salman standing there with a table lamp in hand.
"What are you doing?" she asked, leaning her left shoulder against the doorframe, trying to catch her breath.
"Wait, you just screamed, right?" he replied, looking both confused and worried.
"Yeah, I did," she admitted, looking into his eyes.
"What was the matter?" he pressed, eyebrows furrowing.
She couldn't help but chuckle, shaking her head. "I just saw a cockroach on the bathroom wall."
Salman raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. "Just a cockroach?! You screamed over a cockroach?"
Sana laughed again, playfully challenging him. "Yes, just a cockroach! Are you not going to beat it with that lamp?"
In that moment, Salman realized he had instinctively grabbed the lamp in his panic.
"What? Me? Beat a cockroach? No way!" he laughed, shaking his head. "I was just bringing this to you, so you can have both yours and mine tonight—extra beam of light, you know?"
Sana burst into laughter, her fear fading away. "You're the greatest brother! Ready to save your sister with that dumb lamp. Honestly, I was just scared of a cockroach, but now it seems like every cockroach will make me laugh."
