The air inside Class 3-E was heavy—thick with quiet tension , suffocating in its restraint .
No laughter , no chatter . Only the stillness of twenty-something hearts beating just a little too fast .

The cracked windows let in a dim , pale light that pooled across the floorboards , soft as dying moonlight . Dust drifted lazily through the air like ash after a fire . Even the sound of the wind outside had fallen silent , as if the world itself were holding its breath .

The sign on the half-open door read Class 3-E—a name whispered like a curse across Kunugigaoka . And today , even the shadows seemed to fear entering .

A boy near the front tapped his fingers against the wood of his desk—steady , rhythmic , desperate for something to break the suffocating calm . His pulse echoed in his ears . Then , far away , came the deep , rushing roar of air . Like the sound of the sea—no , faster , sharper . Something was coming .

Outside the window , the sky was impossibly blue , a fragile dome split by streaks of white cloud that curled like sugar threads . For a fleeting moment , it was beautiful . Then the world trembled .

A boom cracked the quiet . Wind tore through the classroom , scattering papers into a flurry of white . Among them , one word bled through in red ink , tumbling to the floor like a warning written in blood .

MURDER .

At her window , Kaede Kayano lifted her gaze . Her soft green hair—tied into her signature cat-ear pigtails—fluttered in the rush of air . Hazel eyes glimmered faintly , unfocused yet strangely calm . She stared into the mist , unblinking . Waiting .

Meanwhile , azure eyes gaze forward with a sharpness reminiscent of a tiger awaiting its prey . The students flinched , shielding their faces from the sudden gust . The fog rolled in thick and cold , licking at the floor like smoke from an unseen fire .

Then—through the fog—something moved .

A shape materialized , smooth and bright , cutting through the gloom like sunlight on a blade . Yellow .

Tentacles—sleek and deliberate—unfurled from the haze . They glistened faintly in the dim light , impossibly graceful . The creature landed with elegance , his robe swaying with the whisper of silk .

A single tentacle placed the attendance book on the teacher’s desk with a sharp pap . A smile spread across his round , sun-colored face .

" Now then , Let's get started . Student on duty , on your command "

Its tentacles move both independently and autonomously .

" S..Stand up ! "

A young boy with blue hair declared . The students upon hearing him , promptly stood up straight , pointing the guns they held in their hands toward the enormous yellow octopus .
