The lab was silent except for the faint hum of machines , their relentless work a backdrop to the experiments carried out within . The man known only as 'The Reaper' lay on the reinforced restraint table , his body no longer fully human . Yanagisawa's research into antimatter had irrevocably transformed him, replacing his body tissue with structures Yanagisawa called 'tentacles'-tough , flexible and unnervingly alien . These experiments were relentless , day after day , aiming to perfect the continuous generation of antimatter within a living being .

A mere 0.1 gram of antimatter held the energy of an atomic bomb and now that power circulated through his body like blood . Yanagisawa , aware of the danger his creation posed , reinforced every restraint on the Reaper's table and handed off the daily monitoring to one person : Yukimura Aguri .

Aguri stood behind the glass , clipboard in hand , her expression calm yet thoughtful . She had spent nearly a year in this room , tasked with monitoring the assassin's condition . She knew things about him few others did . She knew that the Reaper didn't know his own name or his birthdate . Every kind word he spoke , every gentle smile he gave , was an act-a studied , perfected tool from his arsenal as an assassin . And yet , these moments , however calculated , had become strangely genuine in their familiarity .

And he knew things about her too . He had observed her interactions , piecing together what lay beneath her polite demeanor. He knew there was no love between her and Yanagisawa, her fiancé. He knew about her little sister, a talented actress whom she admired deeply.

Nearly a year had passed since they first met . In that time , this cold , sterile lab had become more than just a place of experiments and pain . It had become a strange sanctuary for quiet conversation .

Aguri sat at her desk , her pen moving swiftly across the paper as she jotted down notes . Her brow furrowed in concentration , but her hand suddenly paused mid-sentence as a thought crossed her mind . A wide smile crept onto her face as she turned her gaze toward Koro Sensei , who was lounging on a trolley , casually flipping through a small red book .
