"Alright, V-Model Test 1 is ready. Initiate stage 1," a voice called out. It was monitoring the first test of the new V-Model, a "perfect" war machine. With its new blood-absorbant plating and its small size, it could easily crawl up inside an Earthmover's multiple service shafts and kill it from the inside. A man in the lower testing room turned a key on the prototype. It jerked to life, its iconic yellow eye now lit up.
"Stage 1 is good. Initiating stage 2," said the man in the testing room. He turned the key a little bit further. The machine would begin to move around, curious of its environment. It saw the man and instantly tackled him, punching him in the face several times in a left-right-left-right pattern. The poor man started to bleed, healing the machine even if it had a full fuel tank. It didn't care if it didn't need blood. It needed to be a ruthless, unforgiving monster.
"It works, but turn it off it's gonna kill Mike!" People in the control room rushed to remotely turn off the V-Model; it fell limp right on Mike's body. Mike would die of blood loss 8 minutes later.
"Well, that didn't work," said somebody else. "We need to test it more."
And so they did. They updated the firmware to include a third stage: full combat. They began test 2, with the guy testing it wearing protective gear. He turned the key. He did it again. The machine moved around, curious once again, but not hostile. It waved at the man testing it, before they brought in something simple for it to fight: a Drone. The man told it not to attack him, and it nodded in agreement. He turned the key again, and they deployed a Drone. The V-Model was equipped with a revolver and the popular "Core Eject" shotgun.
The machine destroyed the Drone, ejecting a core and shooting said core with the revolver to blow up the Drone. "Test successful," said a voice from the control room. The V1's success had led it to become the most popular war machine of all time, and a direct counter to the legendary Earthmover.
