Night-time the temple of Nan Yang
Xie Lian emerged from the back of the temple, his hair loose and unbound, looking extremely disheveled. The two martial gods sitting idly at the temple looked at him before Feng Xin swore "F!ck!" and promptly ran away.
Xie Lian stared at where he had run off to. "Was that really necessary?" He says, staring at Feng Xin's retreating back with raised brows.
No matter who looked at it, this was a handsome young man with gentle brows. But this was exactly the reason that most people couldn't stand the sight of a perfectly fine, young man in a woman's wedding dress. Feng Xin for example couldn't bear it at all and had swiftly run from the temple.
Xie Lian looked at Mu Qing who was eyeing him up and down.
"Is there something you wish to say?" He asks, staring right back at him.
Mu Qing nodded. "If I was the ghost groom and someone sent me a bride like this..."
"You would destroy the village?" Xie Lian asks.
Mu Qing shakes his head. "No, I would kill the woman."
Xie Lian smiled at Mu Qing in a way that sent shivers up his spine. He quickly turned away, not wanting to be the subject of that gaze any longer.
Feng Xin had returned and he had quietly suggested transformation magic. But was swiftly turned down as Xie Lian argued that it was much too late to learn transformation magic. Besides, they wanted to get rid of this bridegroom as soon as possible.
Xie Lian looked outside and realized it was getting late. He shrugged. "Whatever. It's all the same when the veil goes on." He looked down at the robes, remembering the last time he had worn robes like these. He smiled fondly at the memory. Oh how he missed his husband.
Before he could place the veil over his head. Feng Xin raised his palm and said. "Wait, we don't know how the ghost groom kills its victims. What if it lifts the veil and is enraged by what it sees? Rage is very unpredictable, and we don't know any of its abilities."
Xie Lian shrugged. "It'll be dead before it could pull something like that off."
"..." Feng Xin and Mu Qing stared at him with a complicated expression.
He stared back
Xie Lian took a step, only to hear a rrrrrip sound. The dress had ripped! He cursed inwardly, forgetting that the robe hadn't passed Hua Cheng's meticulous eye. He sighed. Hopefully Mu Qing would be willing to fix it.
"Excuse me..."
The three turned to look at the entrance, where a young woman now stood. Xiao-Ying held a neatly folded white robe and was watching them with trepidation.
"I met you guys here yesterday, and I came here to see if I'd run into you again... I've washed these clothes; I'll put them over here, thank you so much for yesterday, and today."
Xie Lian was about to smile in response when he remembered what he was wearing. He froze and embarrassed, said. "...No, Miss, please don't misunderstand me! This is not a hobby of mine," His words were fast and rushed as he stumbled over his words.
Xiao Ying on the other hand, didn't seem to be weirded out in the slightest, she quietly spoke up. "If you want I can help you! To pay you back for helping me yesterday and today! I can do makeup and alter clothes! You're luring out the Ghost Groom right?"
"..."
Two incense times later, Xie Lian emerged from the back of the temple again, Feng Xin and Mu Qing were curious to know what he looked like now, but in the end, they decided to cherish their eyes and let it drop. The 'marriage sedan' was prepared outside of the temple, and the carefully selected soldiers selected to escort the sedan had been waiting outside for a long time
