Samantha's P.O.V
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up again to the dreaded sound of my alarm clock at the same time from yesterday. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood up to get my clothes for today. I walked over to my dresser grabbed my usual tang-top, jeaned shorts, and grey socks. I quickly changed and walked out my room and to the stairs. I heard a short snore from the living room as I made my way down the stairs to get something for breakfast, I was thinking about taking some more money so I can go to the diner. The workers are always nice and are practically like aunts and uncles to me. If that makes any sense. I tip-toed to the draw of assorted trinkets in the kitchen and grabbed a couple 10's and closed it hastily, as to not wake up father. I walked to the front door and slipped on my red high-tops, and I was off.
The walk to the diner was a bit longer of a walk than the walk to the park or the convenient store, but my feet were still slightly sore by the time I got there. I opened the door of the semi full diner as the bell above the door rang. I saw one of the waitresses, Mrs. Rodrigues, look up at the door as she heard the bell. I waved to her as a smile adorned her face. I sat in a seat at the counter as another worker, Mr. Walker handed me a menu and gave a small smile and a fist bump. Mrs. Rodriguez poured a man some coffee before walking over to me in her knee length pink dress and white apron around her waist. "Hello Samantha! It's so nice to see you again!" She spoke in a gleeful voice as she stopped in front of me. I smiled and replied cheerfully, opening the menu and scanning in for my favorite food, "Hello miss! It's nice to see you too." "Well, what would you like to eat today, darling?" she replied, I showed her the number of what I wanted, it was the breakfast combo with an egg, hashbrowns, two strips of bacon, and two pancakes staked on top of each other.
She nodded as she wrote it down on her small notepad and went to the back to tell everyone in the kitchen about the order. I waited patiently as my mind went to other things like what happened yesterday in the woods. Was I wrong for leaving Mindy and Randy in that creepy cottage like that? And that dream last night... what did it have to do with anything? Was it a sign or a warning maybe... My thoughts were interrupted as a worker walked into the door; she seemed stressed about something. But that was Mrs. Jackson, she was always nervous about something, whether it was about a storm or a news report, she was a nervous reck. She walked into the double doors to the kitchen with a towns paper in her hands. I was curious, so I leaned over the counter slightly to get a better hear on what they may have been talking about. I just heard a lot of mumbles and occasional 'Really?' and 'There's no way', but nothing that caught my attention. Until Mrs. Jackson came out with my order and placed it in front of me.
She looked at me before talking to me in a hushed tone, "Did you read the paper today? They found a pentagram on the floor of the old cottage in the woods! That cottage has probably been there for centuries and now there is a pentagram on it!" I knew what she was talking about, but I didn't want her to worry any more than she was, so I just looked at her and said, "Thats weird, but it's probably a joke or something-" "Lucy! Don't tell her that stuff, she'll get paranoid!' Mrs. Rodriguez interrupted, making Mrs. Jackson turn around in surprise. She walked away to go help some other customer as Mrs. Rodriguez gave a glass of water, "Don't believe a thing she says, its probably just some dumb kids doing things they shouldn't" she said sternly, I nodded in agreement as I took a bite of my pancakes. Me and Mrs. Rodriguez talked back and forth for a while until I finished everything. I handed her the money I had in my pocket before waving goodbye to her and the other workers.
I walked down the street up until the park came up, I saw Mindy and Randy talking and laughing with each other by the swings. I looked down at my feet for a second before staring back at them for a moment, sighing, I crossed the street and walked towards them. They must of heard the woodchips crunching because they looked behind them, they both got slightly annoyed faces as they saw me, they must still be mad. "Hey guys, I'm sorry about the whole 'leaving you in the creepy cottage in the woods' thing." I spoke truthfully. They shared a glance at each other before looking back at me. Mindy sighed as she looked at me, she slightly smiled before answering, "Its fine, nothing even happened so-" "It was a hoax." Randy interrupted, earning a groan of frustration from Mindy. I smiled a bit wider, I'm happy to know that they weren't mad at me. We talked back and forth for a while until the streetlights were out. I waved them goodbye as we went our separate ways. I walked down the street and unlocked the door from the spare key under the doormat. I quietly shut the door and walked upstairs to my room as Father stayed lying on the couch with a beer bottle in his hand. I changed into some comfy clothing and laid in bed, holding the same stuffy from the nights before. I fell into a deep slumber as I hugged the soft stuffy close to my chest. Today went oddly better than I thought it would.
