So there we both were. At the top of Beacon in Professor Ozpin's room. She'd already killed him and taken the last of the Maiden's power. I came up here to stop her, but something held me back, and now I was paying the price. An arrow through my leg and arm, and now she stood before me, an arrow aimed at my heart. But she hadn't let it fly yet. I stared into her amber eyes, eyes filled with both accomplishment and sorrow.
—A Couple of Months Prior—
I was resting in my dorm. Jaune had gone off to do some solo training while Nora and Ren were eating in the cafeteria. We had recently wrapped up in the library with team RWBY, me and my team studying, and team RWBY playing Remnant: The Game. I was brought out of my rest and thoughts by a thud outside my dorm. Opening the door, I saw Ruby being helped up from the floor by a girl with pale green hair, with a silver-haired boy standing next to her.
"Right, sorry. Um, I'm Ruby. Are you new?"
"Visiting from Haven, actually." A third person said, appearing behind the two. And wow, she was stunning. Her black hair was swept over her left shoulder, and her amber eyes demanded attention. The three spoke a little more with Ruby, but I wasn't paying attention, just staring at the black-haired girl, who caught my glances. Eventually, they continued down the hall and Ruby took off. As they passed by my dorm, each of them looked at me, standing in the open doorway, but the only one with whom I made eye contact with was the amber-eyed girl. She was captivating.
It wasn't long before I saw her again. She was sitting in the back right corner of the class alongside the two people Ruby ran into. I sat near the front left, alongside my team and team RWBY. Throughout the class, I couldn't help but steal glances at the amber-eyed girl. I knew nothing about her, yet she had captured my attention in its entirety. Occasionally, when I would take a glance at her, we would make eye contact, and a smirk would appear on her face. Whenever that happened, I would quickly look away, feeling my face heat up. We continued like that until the end of the day, with me stealing glances at every opportunity throughout every class.
Once class was over, team RWBY went to their dorm room while me and my team went to the library.
"I just don't get it," Jaune said, collapsing into a chair and onto a table in the library.
"What do you mean, Jaune?"
"Why won't Weiss just give me a chance?"
"Well... sometimes people just aren't interested." Ren said.
"Yeah! You'll find someone who likes you! Probably." Nora said.
"Wow, thanks."
"Jaune. You will find someone eventually; just be patient. Someone out there will like all your positive aspects."
"What positive aspects?"
"No, seriously, what?" Nora whispered into my ear.
I sighed at Nora before talking to Jaune. "You are an incredible leader, knowing your team's strengths and weaknesses and knowing what they should do in each situation. You always put others before yourself; just because Weiss doesn't appreciate those aspects doesn't mean someone else won't."
"...Thanks, Pyrrha."
"You're welcome, team leader. I'm going to go search for a book."
"Alright. We'll just be here."
I wandered through the aisles. Nothing really jumped out to me, but I did stumble across something that caught my attention. Something you wouldn't expect to find in Beacon Academy's library, a collection of fairy tales. How nostalgic... my mother used to tell me these stories before bed when I was a child.
