"--And that is how you get the answer." Sam finishes explaining. He looks over at Libby who has the most perplexed and horrified expression on her face. He glances to Evie who is writing in her workbook.

"Okay, come on. We both know I'm never gonna use calculus anywhere." Libby says.

"Not true." Sam argues.

"Okay. When do you use calculus? In your daily life, when?" Libby inquires.

"Well, there's..." Sam trails off in thought.

"Exactly!" Libby exclaims.

"Got it." Evie gives her dad the workbook, Sam skimming through it.

"All right. Good job, baby." Sam softly smiles at her.

Libby rolls her eyes, her head falling into her hands, her annoyance and frustration only growing.

"Hey." Sam notices her state, gently pulling her head back to look at him. "Don't feel worse. There's nothing wrong with you because you struggle with math a little."

"A little?" Libby scoffs.

"You each have your own strengths and weaknesses -- which is completely okay." Sam promises.

"Whatever." Libby grumbles, glaring down at the workbook.

"Okay, okay, all right. We're--" Sam sighs. He gets up and grabs something, Libby not paying attention. Her eyes light up when he places the coloring book and crayons in front of her.

"We're done?" She grins.

"We're taking a break." Sam clarifies making her pout. "Because you're extremely overwhelmed and if we go any further, you're just gonna have a breakdown."

"Well, I am a cry baby." Libby remarks, opening the box of crayons. Sam quietly sighs.

"You're not a cry baby. Neither of you are. You're people who reasonably express their emotions." Sam states. "You're also teenagers, so... your emotions are already all over the place. Especially being girls with... you know, periods and everything."

"Mm-hmm. Right." Libby mumbles, focusing on coloring.

"Great pep talk." Evie quips.

"I'm gonna go get you guys a snack. You need to eat something. E, start working on history." Sam says, lightly scratching Libby's head.

"I don't get a break?" Evie asks.

"You're not overwhelmed." He says.

"Wha--" She pouts.

"Okay, all right, I'm kidding, re-relax. Take a break. I don't need you actually getting overwhelmed." Sam kisses her on the head and then leaves.

After a little while, Sam returns with two waters, two chocolate milks, and a plate consisting of celery with peanut butter and a few Oreos. The other plate has a few M&M cookies and a cut up apple on it.

"Sweet." Evie mumbles, grabbing a slice of the apple.

"Ooh." Libby grins at the cookies and chocolate milk.

"Half healthy, half unhealthy." Sam says.

"I prefer all unhealthy, but whatever." Libby says.

Sam lets out a quiet laugh, but doesn't say anything, honestly just happy she gets excited about food again.

"So, uh... how are you doing?" Sam asks after a bit.

"Fine." Libby says.

"Elizabeth." He warns.
