Hanni's POV

I drove to Minji's property and called out loudly to her as soon as I crossed the threshold. There was no response, so I went to the door of the house and knocked on it while shouting her name again. I still got no sign of her, although the door was unlocked, so I went in and looked around. It was clean and tidy, as always, but there was no sign of her. She must have been somewhere in the house, too far away to hear me, or maybe she had gone to town.

I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil to tell her that my friends had shown up in town and that I would explain the rest when I saw her. I added the name of the place where we were planDanielle to have dinner and asked her to join us. I wished she would. I hoped that coming to her cafe would have made her feel comfortable enough to return to town.

I wanted to introduce her to my friends. I wanted her to be a part of every aspect of my life.

I returned home to finish getting ready and then went with Danielle and Sunoo to town, to enjoy a casual dinner at the local pizzeria, which also had an arcade.

We ordered a giant pizza, and they brought it to the table along with the darts to play some games.

We hadn't even emptied the first beer when I looked up and saw Minji at the door. I smiled instantly and dropped the dart to run towards her. I put her arms around her neck and kissed her on the mouth.

She gave a sigh that seemed to have been held all day. I leaned back to look at her face, and I saw a tension she wasn't used to.

"Are you OK?" I asked for.

She nodded her head saying yes and her expression relaxed. I moved away so she could sign.

You didn't tell me your friends were coming.

"I found out yesterday, after leaving your house. They took a plane early in the morning. Minji, they have a suspect in my father's case. Yesterday I spoke on the phone with the detective who is leading the investigation, and he wants me to go to identify some photos. They could arrest him," I finished, looking into her eyes, suddenly excited, after having discussed the possibility out loud.

Hanni, that's great. Really cool!

I nodded.

"I'll have to leave for a few days. Danielle and Sunoo will accompany me, but then I'll be back."

I frowned again, thinking about how it would feel to be back in Ohio.

When I looked at Minji, she was staring at me, with that tense expression.

"You could come with us."

Her eyes softened for a moment, but then she sighed.

I don't think so, Hanni. You have to catch up with your friends.

"Come on, Hanni, don't make us wait any longer! It's your turn!" Danielle shouted.

I smiled and grabbed Minji's hand.

"Come meet my friends" I said. "They're going to adore you," I added quietly.

Minji seemed hesitant, but finally spread a smile on her face and let me lead her to the table where our pizza was.

I introduced her to Danielle and Sunoo, and they shook hands.

"But what the hell is wrong with the water in this town?" Danielle asked rhetorically, tilting her head. "Some mineral that makes people look hot. I think I'm going to move in."
