"Where am I?" I painfully open my eyes and look around. It's dawn, the sun has just risen. I can hardly make anything out. My head is spinning around, making everything around me blue and blurry. A cute little squeal helps me wake up from my trance. A small, white rabbit rests at my feet, and once it realizes I'm awake, it crawls up to my face. Without prior warning, it gets up and runs off, exiting through the wooden door. Confused, I stand up, and trying to ignore the sharp pain on my back, I clumsily set off behind it. I barely have time to poke my head out of the doorway before the rabbit disappears into the corner of the corridor. I rushed to where the animal had disappeared, and just as I thought I'd finally caught up with it, the rabbit suddenly sped up and I lost another step ahead of him. This little game lasted at least five minutes before I ended up on the big terrace in pursuit of the cursed rabbit. During this little run, I only had time to catch a brief glimpse of certain rooms, without really being able to concentrate on what was in them. Out of breath, I look around for the little ball of fur.
When my eyes finally meet those of the fowl creature, I know I have won the race. I slowly start walking towards the small animal, being careful to not scare it off, but it looks like he has already taken a liking to me, as he looks calm. I decide to sit down next to it, to try and earn its trust, and surprisingly, it jumps up on my lap as soon as I settle down. "Bunny..." the little being looks at me interested. "Yeah, that's how I'll call you from now, Bunny. Do you love it?".The animal caringly bit my hand. I'll take that as a yes. A small drop of blood runs down my arm from the small bite. As the little red liquid crashes to the ground, I glance around me.
I open my eyes and it's night time again. His face still lingers in my memory. I close my eyes and once again, he is in the pool, sinking away. His gaze planted in mine, his body slipping away from my reality, sinking into the darkness of the bubbling mist. His hand, still outstretched towards me, slowly detaches from his body, floating like a lost star in the cruel galaxy. His eyes narrow in on themselves until they evaporate in the fog. His fingernails liquefy and his hair forms a strange painting, as if the artist had mixed up all her paint pots. His clothes mix with the acid, forming a deadly cocktail. And within ten seconds, all that remains of his body is a blurred image at the bottom of the pool.
A drop of sweat falling from my forehead brings me back to reality. The rabbit on my lap whimpered faintly. Lost in my sudden recollection, I clutched the poor animal in my hands so tightly he could barely breathe. Releasing him at once, the rabbit hops out of my reach.
Straight into the pool.
