a/n: important things first. lino's cover of "love me or leave me" was absolutely breathtaking?? he's so talented?? his vocals are so underrated?? i fucking love him??
secondly. this was inspired by the "picture in my wallet" trend (lmk in the comments if you don't know which one i'm talking about), but it quickly took a darker turn even though i didn't expect it to go that way. so beware that this fic does contain a brief mention of suicidal attempts, a bit of sexual assault (nothing that i would consider r-rated), and our characters being extremely overwhelmed with emotions. if that's okay with you, feel free to keep reading :)
thank you for being alive <3
"but i don't want to go," minho whined as his girlfriend, yoora, straightened his tie.
she looked him in the eye, shaking her head while pursing a smile. "min, you know you have to go. you're on the board of directors, and this party is literally held for you."
he frowned, inching a bit closer to her. "they should've just let me take you with me." he wasn't this clingy, not usually. he just wanted to watch movies at home with his girlfriend and his cats— was that too much to ask for?
"you can't control the rules other people set, min," she responded, moving all her breast-length hair to go over her right shoulder. "and that's okay. but you have to go and stay for at least an hour and a half, okay? otherwise, the other employees will call you arrogant and mean and all that bullshit again, and i really don't want to be punching anyone again."
minho laughed, surprised at her sudden violence. he was usually the one who threatened to beat up others for yoora; it wasn't the other way around. deep down, he knew she was right. he would have to go for some time, even if that meant leaving his girlfriend alone. "fine," he muttered. "goodbye kiss?" he raised an eyebrow at her expectantly, pursing his lips dramatically.
"you big baby," she teased before leaning in and kissing him. she pulled away what seemed like way too quickly, and when she noticed minho getting ready to protest, she tutted, "nuh uh. no more kisses until after you come back, or you won't end up going anywhere."
minho's ears turned bright pink. "fine." nevertheless, he pecked her lips one last time before finally sighing and walking towards his car. "go back into our house, first, and then i'll leave."
yoora rolled her eyes with a bright smile on her face. this had become their thing— minho always made sure she was inside before he got into his car just in case someone was waiting to attack her the second he couldn't protect her.
the action made her feel warm and fuzzy inside every time.
"kre, baby," she blew a kiss at him. "annyeong! take pictures for me!"
"annyeong, ra," he pouted playfully. "i'll see you in exactly an hour and a half."
she shook her head with a sigh and a smile once again before heading back into the house, leaving minho alone to get into his car. as he started the car, he couldn't help but get a bit frustrated with the corporate people who organized the event. what had they been thinking? why was the party only for people who worked at the company?
