One Year Later...

Tin stirred awake, his gaze falling on the man and boy peacefully asleep beside him. It had been a year since Tee had pushed him to come clean to Can and invite the younger man to move in with them. It hadn't all been smooth sailing. The press caught wind of it quickly and tried to use it against him during high-profile cases, but the public didn't seem to mind. In their eyes, Tin was still a just and fair man. Can's charity had transformed into a thriving organization, resembling a well-established company. With multiple offices scattered across Thailand, they efficiently managed the welfare of children impacted by crime. The growth was so remarkable that Vee and Mek had willingly left their previous jobs behind, dedicating themselves entirely to the noble cause alongside Can.

Tin truly felt the absence of his presence in the office, but he understood that it was a lifelong dream for Can. Having him around more often at home made up for it in the best possible way. Can was always the one who drove Tee to school and picked him up in the evening. He made sure there was food on the table when Tee got home, and somehow, he managed to efficiently run his own life, making it easy for his new assistant to simply be there and take notes during meetings.

Tin couldn't really put into words how much happiness and delight he had received over this last year with Can and he knew that it would continue on into this next year and the year after that. He had firmly believed for an extended period that Tee was the sole source of his happiness and satisfaction. However, he was pleasantly surprised to discover that he had been mistaken in a significant manner. Ever since Can entered his life, it had undergone a remarkable transformation for the better.

It came as a great surprise to him that Can, the child he had consoled at the police station and persuaded his father to assist, still remembered him so clearly. It was quite peculiar that someone so young could recall him so vividly, while he himself had almost forgotten the specifics about Can, like his name and appearance.

Over the years, he had often reflected on him during challenging times when he felt frustrated and stuck. The thought of the little boy reminded him of the purpose behind his efforts, making it all meaningful. And now, that very reason was lying in his bed, offering a comforting smile whenever he felt low. It motivated him to push himself a little more, acknowledging the positive impact it had on his work.

Tee had thankfully stopped calling Can Mommy in the intervening year preferring to call him Can-Papa. The school had been a challenging place for the boy, as he had to endure hurtful comments about his two fathers. However, Tee remained resilient and didn't let it affect him, even though it had affected Can on multiple occasions. Despite the difficulties, they managed to overcome it, and Tee firmly believed that people accepted them and their happiness.

"Old man? What's up? It's early?" Can slowly opened his eyes, groggily whispering, and found himself looking at Tin. With a smile, Tin moved closer, leaning over Tee and gently kissed Can on the lips.

"Just thinking about how happy I am...Thank you for keeping me happy."
