When I woke up, sunlight was already blinding me through the tiny cracks in the blinds. Unsurprisingly, I still felt numb. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't supposed to be getting de-sensitized already! It wasn't fair for this to happen to me!
It wasn't just the numbness that bothered me. That whole lie detector shebang from the trial terrified me. I had no idea I was even capable of being so... cold, and calculating. It was like I wasn't even in control of what I was doing. I mean, it was good that I helped us survive, but I couldn't help but wonder how far Cinereus was willing to go to have us win the trials.
No, not trials. Trial. Singular.
Because there weren't going to be any more murders. Not if I could help it.
A knock at my door brought me back to reality.
MonoMutt: Hey hey hey, dickshit, the morning announcement was like half an hour ago!! Come outside or I'll turn you into a rug for my office.
I dug my nails into my hand in order to resist the urge to rip that disgusting stuffed animal to shreds when I opened the door and was greeted by its shit-eating grin.
MonoMutt: I know you're in your edgelord hours, but this is good, I promise!
He bounded away, leaving me to follow him. My movements were slow and clumsy as I walked through fields, then forest, until I reached a crowd of people standing at a large wooden wall. I recognised it as the wall I had tried to climb earlier. MonoMutt and MonoRam were stood atop the wall, looking down on us.
MonoRam: Hello again, campers. Congratulations on completing your first class trial.
MonoMutt: Since Pissy Krissy did a murder, y'all's loved ones are free. It really is a shame, imagine how much despair we could have inflicted upon you! I'm sure you'd love to have them join you here, only to be brutally slaughtered by someone you thought was your friend! Not only that, but the bombs are disabled... for now.
MonoRam: As an additional reward, you will gain access to a few new areas of the camp. The areas will be unlocked one by one daily, starting from this one. In the event of another murder, all areas set to be unlocked will be unlocked immediately.
MonoMutt: Indeed they will. Ya see, good things come from people dying! Now, I suggest y'all step back, unless you want to meet Jesus!
We all rushed back as MonoMutt pressed a button on his controller, causing the wall to go up in flames. Debris flew through the air and smoke filled the forest as we all coughed and covered our eyes. When the smoke cleared, we were treated to the incredible sight of a large, expansive lake, complete with diving boards, lounging chairs and an entire waterfall! The sound of rushing water calmed my nerves slightly as I watched it cascade over rocks and boulders.
