Mega could feel Jordyn's eyes burning a hole in the side of his face. He knew she wanted to know what the fuck happened at the ball to set him off, but he wasn't in the mood to talk about it with her. He was more focused on keeping himself calm enough not to put a hole in Polo, AND Mila's head.
"What's the problem?" Jordyn asked, keeping her tone soft and sweet.
"Nothing."
"Don't lie."
He didn't know how to tell her he wanted to kill somebody without her asking questions about his previous endeavors, so he didn't want to tell her anything at all. But, Jordyn wasn't letting up. When she wanted to know something, she was going to get the answers one way or another.
"Hello?" She sassed. "Are you gonna talk to me?"
"What we talking bout?"
"Why we left? Why you gave your friend a gun? I mean, whichever one you wanna speak on first."
"You saw that?"
"I did." She slowly nodded. "What was that all about?"
"Got word that Mila and old boy plotting on me. That's what Cali came over and told me before she left."
"Mila's friend?"
"Yeah."
Jordyn felt a knot grow in her stomach. She was scared. Aside from the few times Polo asked her to hold some drugs for him during a traffic stop, she had never been involved in anything pertaining to street life, and she didn't want to be. However, there was something in her gut that made her want to do whatever Mega asked her to do. Even if it meant she had to carry a gun too.
"What are you gonna do?" She asked, placing her hand on his thigh.
Looking down at her hand sitting on his thigh, close to his crotch, made him swell a little. He didn't take Jordyn to be a street chick, so the fact that she seemed to be down for whatever was a win for him.
"What you mean?"
"I know you're not gonna let them do anything to you. So.."
"I ain't gon do nothing to them either. Unless I have to."
Jordyn was quiet the rest of the ride home. She didn't even want to go home, but she didn't want to leave her mom alone either. She hated that. Loved her mom to death, but she hated not being able to live her best life because she had to take care of her.
Mega could tell she wasn't ready to go home, because the closer they got, the tighter her grip on his thigh became. He thought about asking her if she wanted to go to his place, but knew she would say she had to take care of her mom, so he waited to see if she would speak up on what it was she wanted first.
"I gotta make a stop real quick. That's cool?"
"Where we going?"
"Ima pick up something for your mom."
"Oh my God." She rolled her eyes already knowing what it was. "What is it?"
"Relax." He laughed. "Something to help with the pain she was talking about."
They had to pass one of his shops in the hood before they got to Jordyn's crib, which is where he kept some of his weight for shipping out. He wasn't hurting for anything, so he could spare a little. Besides, he figured having Pauline in his corner might open up different doors for more clientele.
"I'll be right back. Unless, you wanna come in?"
"You're crazy if you think Ima sit out here by myself at night." She said, unbuckling her seatbelt in a hurry.
