School Days

Mimi stepped off the bus, her heart pounding. As she walked into the school everyone became a blur. The only thing that mattered to her was Max.

"Mimi? Mimi hey!"
Someone called out.

Mimi kept walking, her heart pounding. She suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder.

"MIMI!"
Mimi looked up shocked, it was Claire.

"Claire, hey! What's up?"
Mimi fakes a smile.

Claire looks at her, concerned , seeing her red stained cheeks and bags under her eyes.

"Oh Mimi, you’re taking it that hard?"
Claire hugs her.

Mimi looks down,
"Well.. I,"
Tears start filling her eyes, she runs off.

"Mimi! Wait!"

Mimi wipes her tears, stupid Claire! Making me remember..

She stops and slumps down in a corner burying her face in her legs.

"Stupid stupid!"
She cries while wiping her tears snot running down. "Look at me, a mess." She laughs, "I'm so pathetic, no wonder he doesn’t love me anymore." She sniffs and looks up to an empty hallway.

Well, guess it's going back to what I'm used to, she thought. Mimi gets up and starts walking.. Being alone. 

Mimi slumped into her seat,

"The last thing I want to do is art today.",She grumbled.

She put her head on the table hiding it with her arms.

I just want this day to end already.

"Hey Mimi", her friend Alister says.

Mimi looks up,

"Hey..,"she says quietly.

"Jesus Mimi!" Alister runs over to her.
"What happened?"

"Oh you know what happened," Mimi says quietly.

"Well yeah but damn you look terrible!"

Mimi laughs, "Wow thanks Alister that made me feel so much better."

"Sorry Mimi but you can't go on like this, this is just sad. He isn't worth the time or the crying you are giving him. The man is an ass he dumped you! So screw him!"
Alister sighs and goes back to his seat.

Mimi sighs, "I guess you’re right, It can't always be this way. I'm gonna go get a drink," she says getting out of her chair.

" You want me to come with?" Alister asks.

"No, I should be okay,"
She walks over to the door.

Walking towards the water fountain she reaches for her water bottle then realizes. Oh shoot I forgot it in the classroom! Great going, She thinks annoyed walking back.

When she reaches the intersection in the hallway she sees someone walking in the middle of the hallway. She stops, her hands balled up into a fist her body quivering.

It's Max..., she thought.

He looked her way but she instantly avoided eye contact pretending to be on her phone. She looked up,

I-is he gone?

Mimi sighed and walked back into the classroom. Her face was very pale.

"Mimi? Hey, what's wrong?" Alister asks getting up to comfort her.

Mimi looks down,

"U-um it's nothing don't worry about it," she says quietly.

Alister sighs, "You saw Max again didn't you? Mimi I told you not to actively look for him, it's not..."

"I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE HIM!" Mimi interjets loudly.

Alister stops,

"Alright Mimi," he walks back to his seat.

Mimi sits down in her chair and puts her head down.

Great going, now Alister is upset. When is this day gonna be over,

Mimi slumps down in her seat as the bell rings.

Mimi sighed as she sat down at a table for lunch.

This is so weird, I never sit at a table.

She always sat with Max's best friend Devin or his sister Mia.

Mimi walked over to an empty table and sat down. Suddenly, she heard another chair pull out next to her.

"I'm sorry I thought this was a free space but I can move if you would like…," she stops seeing a very tall kid sitting next to her.

Mimi instantly clams up,

"Oh my gosh I-I'm so sorry I’ll move right away.."

"It's fine," the kid says smiling.
"You..you’re Mimi right?"

Mimi smiles a little confused, "Yeah.. How did you know?"

"Aren’t you Max’s girlfriend? You guys are so cute!"

Mimi instantly gets a flashback. This kid is Kris right? He sat at our table once with me and Max in the morning. Mimi sighed, Damn if only nothing had changed.
Mimi looks down,

"Oh- uh we um broke up.

Kris looks shocked, "Wait what? Are you serious?"

Mimi sighed annoyed, "Yeah I'm sure he told all about it."

Kris shakes his head, "No he never did! I don't think any of his friends knew. How odd, that would explain when he's been so distant though, I barely see him around anymore."

Strange...,Mimi thought.
