Javier and Kate step out into toe courtyard, the remainder of the people of Richmond scattered around talking among themselves. Some children laughed as they played together around the swing set, their parents watching with relieved smiles and fondness.
Kate nods to Javier as she turns and walks away, Javier watching her with a gentle grin before walking down the steps with a soft sigh.
A horse snorting gains his attention, Jesus clopping over with his horse as he smiles to Javier.
"Heading out?" Javier questions, lightly stroking the horse's neck as it nickers.
"Yes, indeed," Jesus nods, looking around Richmond with a content smile. "We came here to put an end to the raiding. Looks like that's been done. I'm glad we got it settled. Gotta move on."
Javier nods, smiling up at Jesus. "I gotta admit man, you are a fucking badass."
Jesus blinks rapidly in surprise before smirking, eyebrow raised as he gazes down at Javier. "You're a real charmer. You know that? Through and through."
Javier shakes his head in amusement, chuckling. "Oh, you know what they say... takes one to know one."
"That they do," he hums back in response, his smirk growing. "I don't meet a lot of people like you, Javi. Someone genuinely good. It was my pleasure. Second chances are in short supply these days."
His horse whinnies softly as it shifts, Jesus turning his horse to face Javier.
"That's what this place can be, if you let it," he continues, glancing around. "Trust me, though. Life within walls is a hell of a lot different than life on the road. Don't take shortcuts like Joan. You gotta do the right thing. Always. Good days, and especially bad."
"Absolutely," Javier agrees with a firm nod. "The right thing, no matter what."
"Good to hear!" Jesus smiles at this, nodding back. "I read people pretty well. Little gift of mine. You're a capable guy, Javi. Change is in the air here. You could lead that change, and I think you should. For the better. God knows this town could use it."
Javier considers it for a moment, looking around at Richmond's surviving people and slowly nodding with determination. "You know what? I'm going to step up. Lead this place in the right direction."
(?) Jesus admires Javier's commitment
"Then as far as I'm concerned, Richmond's in much better hands than it was," he replies, winking with a grin.
"Hey," Gabe meekly calls, making Jesus look up and to the boy. "Uh... Jesus?"
"Hey, uh, Gabe," Jesus lightly teases, tilting his head.
Gabe swallows nervously, "Thanks for, you know... not letting me get killed. And for coming back to help us."
"Yeah," Javier agrees, patting Gabe's back lightly. "Thanks for that, man."
Jesus smiles at this, gesturing ahead. "Pay it forward."
Gabe grins up at Jesus in awe, Jesus turning his horse as it nickers.
