A/N: Hola- I've been sick with the flu for like a week now (Omg, lucky me!) and I've been struggling to keep up with a consistent update schedule. (Which is hard to do when you're doing so many things or when you're dying on a couch- either way, pick your poison). Anyways, I'm trying to figure out a consistent update schedule but the best I've been able to come up with is 5 days a week max, depending on what I do each day. I'm a very inconsistent person.
Also, as much as I know about the Keeper universe and fandom and as much as I've read the whole series (I own the whole series and have read them like 8 times), my mind comes up blank on some things, so if someone could kindly comment on things that didn't happen in the books or that I may have gotten wrong, PLEASE do so in order for me to correct them- Hope you're enjoying reading this so far!
Sophie's POV:
After all our classes ended, we met up at the leaping crystals and went off our seperate ways.
Which aren't really that seperate since a lot of us made plans to hang out with each other after school anyways.
Jensi goes off with Marella, Stina, Maruca, and Linh to Sterling Gables to practice their abilities together, shouting, "STERLING GABLES!" before being whisked off by the light. Fitz goes home with Grizel, claiming that he doesn't feel up to the awesome slumber party the rest of us are having at Havenfield. By the time they leave, we're all stepping up to go next, excited.
"Do I really have to go?" Tam asks as I struggle to find my home crystal in the assortment of necklaces on my neck.
"Obviously," Keefe scoffs, teasing. "What, not enough shade for you there, Bangs Boy?"
Tam sends him a massive eye roll just as I find my home crystal. "There's enough shade wherever I go, even if it's in the brightest place on earth."
"Wow, you find shadows at Everglen?"
This earns Keefe a playful smack on his arm from Biana.
"Let's go?" I ask them. Dex sends me a dimpled smile and Keefe gives a thumbs up.
"HAVENFIELD!" We shout and the crystals activate before the light whisks us all away, bodyguards included.
Arriving to a Verminion rampaging outside it's pasture is to be expected at this point. And I really...
REALLY
Should have expected it..
But no. No, we leap to my house to be greeted with havoc and chaos caused by this formidable creature who just hates to be a vegetarian. What an average day- It's almost like she knew we were coming and headed right towards the house on time with Grady wrestling to hang on the her back in order to coax her back to her cage.
NOPE. I'm done with it. I have had to bathe her, to ride her, AND I've even had her plotting my death since I've come here!
SHE IS EVEN WORSE THAN THE STUPID GORGODON!
"Hey kiddo!" Grady shouts shakily from its back, clinging on to her for his life.
"You guys need any help?" I shout back in response, ready to jump in before I spot Edaline looking determined and jumping in front of the verminion with a rope.
"Nope-" Grady replies before almost losing his grip on her purple fur. "I think- we- almost- Got it!"
Right as he says got it, Edaline swings the rope around the verminion's head and runs quickly to get rehind it as to restrain it, while Grady finally manages to climb fully on and attempt successfully to veer her out of our way.
"See now, Foster's got the best parents," Keefe says to the others, as if what they just did proves a point.
Biana steps forward in awe before turning to me. "Does little Iggy ever cause this much trouble?"
I forget she loves Iggy almost as much as me, but doesn't exactly witness the antics of him so I respond with a simle, "You don't even know the half of it."
"Phew," Grady walks over, leaving Edaline to take care of the rest with the gnomes, "She's not as bad as Verdi though."
"Riiiiight," I say cautiously, eyeing him. "How'd it get out in the first place?"
"Well, I think it's safe to say that the lock was a little broken after someone was having such a hard time with it this morning and got angry at it," Edaline hints, walking up behind him.
Dex lets a laugh escape and so does Keefe as Grady opens his mouth to defend himself and Edaline waves for us to go on inside. I gesture them to follow me and the nine of us go up to my room, which was originally a hall. Lovise, Sandor, Bo, and Woltzer all stay outside my room to do a perimeter check and sweep and to discuss... uhhhh... bodyguard things I guess, I dunno?
Keefe makes himself home almost instantly, flopping onto my bed and sighing. Biana does to as she kicks off her boots at the door and goes for the chair next to Iggy's cage. Dex does next and plops down on the flowered carpet, which now I'm sure will need to be replaced by the amount of times they've been crushed by this exact same movement. I sit on the bench next to my bed and unclasp my cape, tired of the stupid thing choking me all day. The only one who stays standing is Tam, who takes it upon himself to look around.
"Any ideas on how what we're going to do during this amazing sleepover?" Tam asks sarcastically, looking at the books on my bookshelves.
"Make-overs!" Biana demands excitedly.
Suggestions start flying out from all four of us.
"Hack into the registry again?"
"Spill all the beans about the council!"
"Try to figure out who Wraith is."
"Fashion show!"
"Pillow fight."
"PLAN THE NEXT GREAT GULON INCIDENT!"
We all look at Keefe suspiciously for that one, his face lit up with excitement.
"What?" Keefe shrugs, "It could be legendary!"
"Let's just keep it simple then.." I smile warily at him and he smirks back, my heart fluttering at the sight.
"Simple it is then," Dex agrees.
