Word Count: 317Summary: In which Peggy Carter strolls through the streets of post war London, and ponders
3rd Person POV
Peggy walked through the bombed out streets of London. She hasn't been here in a while (if only to not have to deal with her mother's constant nagging and the constant reminders of her late older brother Micheal) The war is over, she knows
There are those who are celebrating, sounds of cheering and children and men alike parading through the streets
The cries of those filled with grief and sorrow from lost loved ones reached her ears and she feels her heart clench, thinking of Micheal and Steve and-
No, today is not the day to feel sorrowful, today is for celebrating the end of the war and the start of gaining back their normalcy. Getting back the lives upturned by violence, she can- she will grieve tomorrow
But not today, certainly not today
She keeps her head down and continues walking, lost in her thoughts when she bumps into someone and her purse falls out of her hand and to the ground
She looks up startled and sees a young man picking up her purse, his briefcase hanging off his shoulder while profusely apologizing
She gives the man a quick once over as he picks up her purse and hands it to her. Judging by his speed and attire, he was presumably heading to a job interview
He promptly walks away and though she probably should be, she can't bring it in herself to feel annoyed
Instead she listens, listens to the hustle and bustle of citizens rushing though the streets, the sounds of people trying to get to work, people going home and people chatting with friends. As sound that is so inherently London, she feels a smile grace her features before she can stop herself. Something that hasn't happened in a long time
An innate sense of calm washes over her and she sighs
'the war is over, she can go home now'
