Chapter 2 | Cooking Run
Five days before the Ladies move to The Farm, the sisters and Valentine go to the hospital to see how May is doing. Day was having cold feet, and the two girls who were with her looked at her in worry. Val placed her hands on Day's shoulders and said, "May's gonna fight this."
"You sure?" Day asked. "Sure she will," Ray smiled, "She's our little fighter, after all." The sisters giggled to one another, and Ray could hear chanting on the other side of the doors. "What is...?" She opened the door, and they walked in to see the nurses dancing in the middle, the patients and their loved ones holding balloons, and May recording everything.
"Lotto Girls, Lotto Girls, Lotto Girls! Go, DayRay!" They all stopped chanting as soon as the three walked in. May slowly gave them a peace sign, and everyone went back to their normal state as if nothing happened.
"And don't forget to get some rest. Now her condition has improved, but she still needs close attention," the nurse, who was taking care of May, told Noon, an adult who takes care of May when the sisters are away. The same nurse walked up to the two, "Hello and good luck!" she said as she left the room.
The sisters walked over to May's bed with Ray hugging Noon as a thank you. "I'll go and get something to eat. I'll be back later," Noon told the sisters before leaving to get food. "I've been so worried," Day sighed as she and Val sat on the chairs while Ray leaned on the cupboard beside May's bed.
"Day, come on now. Your sister's as tough as nails," Valentine pointed it out. "Mm, yeah," Day frowned as May looked between her sisters. "My sisters got on a national TV show. How am I supposed to just lie here?" She pouted but was quick to smile as she remembered something. "Oh, yeah. Can I see my autograph from Son?" She asked Day.
"The autograph..." Day looked in thought like she was reliving a memory. Ray tilted her head in confusion, then raised an eyebrow to see Day slowly smile. "I see!" May exclaimed with a huge smile, which got Day out of her daze. "It looks like you might be in love," Ray smirked as she shared a high-five with May.
"No. No, May, Ray. You must be crazy if you think that," Day called out to the two as May repeatedly said, "I bet you're in love!" Ray and Val laughed, "She's infatuated," Val teased. "Va! That's not true, okay! I'm serious," Day giggled as their laughing state was contagious. "You have the energy to tease me? You must be recovered," she stated to the girl in bed.
May jokingly looked around and eyed Ray as the two smirked. "You're in love!" The two jumped on Day and had one hand on each of Day's hands as they laughed. "I am not, okay?" Day laughed as she held both their hands and pushed them lightly with her hands. "No, I don't even like him!" The sisters laugh together.
"If you want to talk more about love, Ray would be the one," Day looked at Ray teasingly. "Day," Ray glared at her. "The way he looked at you says everything," Day pointed out. "It's fate!" May exclaimed and held onto the blue bottle cap. "Wha- You're still holding onto it?!" Ray was shocked at May's perseverance.
"The fact he did that move before the time limit really sells it," May teased, and Ray couldn't help but try to hold in her smile. "I'm not going to let him in that easily. I got to get to know him more. I might tease him and see how far or motivated he gets," she shared her battle plan. "You didn't deny it," May's smile was huge, and they all laughed again.
"I do feel something a bit, but I have to be cautious since he might not like my personality," Ray shared with the two. "Nonsense! He'll love you either way!" May told her. "He would lose his chance with a beautiful and badass girl like you," Day smirked. "Stop, stop! You're inflating my ego if you continue," Ray covered her face as the two kept teasing her.
