You will return home full of anger, ready to lash out. You will march into his office, ready to tear it apart, when a voice says, What if he is not cheating? You shouldn't jump to conclusions. And so you will drop yourself to the ground, and the tears will pour out your eyes like raindrops. Then, while sitting there feeling sorry for yourself, an idea will pop into your head. You will go to the bathroom and wash away all evidence of crying.

You will head into the kitchen and cook his favourite food. The one where he praised you months ago for learning and said that it tasted just as nice as when his mother made it. While you make it, you will recite a prayer to God, although you are not very religious, and ask him to reveal if he is cheating. Since you still don't have confirmation if he is really cheating but there is still doubt, you will add a little more salt to it.

He will walk in the door a few hours later, while you stand at the door waiting for him like a crazy person. As he walked in and saw you, he smiled at you. As the smile crossed his beautiful lips, you wondered if your husband standing at the door at the moment could be capable of just deceit. And if he could, who was he? Was everything you knew about him a lie?

"Uh, good evening, hun? How was your day?" he will ask.

You will try to muster a smile to hide the events of earlier, but what will come out is a smile that makes you look constipated. But he won't notice that your smile was all wrong and that the light that was in your eyes was starting to dim since he would be too busy trying to evade your hug as he raced to the bathroom.

"I need to use the bathroom. It seems as if I ate something bad at lunch today."

You will watch him go as the thought creeps into your head. He is probably running to wash off her scent.

That evening, you will persuade him to eat around the table with bribery for making his favourite food. You let him sit as you served him his plate, and then you took your seat. You watched as his face winced at his first bite at the saltiness and undercooked texture of the food. You will watch as he spit out the food, ready to ask a question when you ask.

"Where were you today?

His mouth will hang open for a minute since he did not expect that question. He will let out a little chuckle after closing his mouth as he says, "W-What do you mean? I was at work."

"I called there for lunch, and the receptionist said you weren't there."

You will watch as the words form in his mouth, but nothing will come through. After a moment, he will speak and say, "That was true. We had an um out of office day; we had meetings outside the office. So it's true, I never went in."

"Why didn't you say that then? Why did it take so long to answer?" You will reply.

Instead of giving a reassuring answer, he will shrug and bite into the undercooked food and close his eyes as his face scrunches up.

"Is Lauren very experienced?" You will ask as you turn the vegetables on the plate, probably the only edible item on the plate, before taking a bite of them. While he starts to cough and spit the food out for a second time.

"W-what?" He will cough. His eyes will then meet yours as a devastating look shines in them.

He will then repeat the word what.

"Since she replaces Ms. Warren, I was wondering if she is a better assistant to you." You will answer after eating.

"She is ok; she moves a lot faster than Ms. Warren, though; remember that time............" You will block him out as he blabbers on about irrelevant information. Your brain will be too busy racing while your eyes watch him not caring about whatever memory he was trying to unlock with funny jokes.

After a while, you will smile and say, "Yeah, I bet she serves you very well." You will then take another bite of the vegetable.

That night, you will not be able to sleep since part of you fails to accept that he is cheating on you. You will turn to your right side, then your left side, then onto your stomach, and then finally settle on your back as the question echoes through your brain.

Is he cheating?

Is he really cheating ?

While the rational part of you accepts that he is cheating on you, the part that gave you the ability to love him is still in denial.

The next day, he will arrive home from work before you and invite you to eat out with him. He will carry your favourite flowers each evening for about a week, and he will also start doing some of the little things he used to do when you had just gotten married.

You will be happy to ignore everything that you have started to discover in the weeks prior, but a small part of you will nag and nag and nag you daily and nightly with the questions you have become too afraid to confront.

"Did he cheat on you?"

"Is he still cheating?"

It will be too much until one day you will say enough is enough. And so, during your lunch break one day, you will find yourself in a private detective's office, describing every suspicion and making an agreement for him to spy on your husband during the day.

And so a couple nights later, you will lay on the bed pretending to sleep when your husband sneaks out of the bed. A few seconds later, you will tiptoe after him and listen as he makes plans to meet somebody after work at 6.

You will then escape back into the bed and continue to pretend that you are sleeping.

The next morning, you will relay everything that you have overheard to the private detective.
