The Night and Sky Collide (Partly Quinter)

Chapter 3: The Dungeons

Winter got into a bowing position. "Do we copy him or?..." Skyfire muttered to Stargazer. The Nightwing shrugged and looked back at the queen. The queen's icy glare, eyed them down. It felt as if she could put chains on them just by looking at them! "Who are you two?" she said suddenly, so suddenly in fact, it made Stargazer flinch slightly. "Do you want me to tell her or do you want to?.." Stargazer whispered to her copper coloured friend. "I have no damn idea what to say." Skyfire whispered back.

The black dragon just sighed, but kept her eyes glued to the queen. "Your majesty, I am Stargazer of the Nightwings, and my companion is Skyfire of the Skywings." she decided to take responsibility, trying to NOT die by the talons of an icy queen. "Hmm.." she seemed to be thinking... It was mainly about trapping them in a dungeon to freeze to death. We're screwed, aren't we? Skyfire's mind yelled, over and over again. "Your highness, may I have the permission to speak?" Winter abruptly said. Queen Glacier nodded and said: "Briefly, if you must." Winter bowed and then stood up. "These two have been extremely disrespectful to me. I think it's reasonable to lock them in the dungeon with that Sandwing advisor that belonged to Thorn." Winter objected. The queen took a few moments to decide and then replied:" Very well, Lead them to the dungeons!". Queen Glacier announced. Winter seemed to have a quite relieved and satisfied look on his face when she had announced it. Welp. We're definitely screwed now. Skyfire's mind projected. Stargazer gave her friend a worried look, with a hint of fear and curiosity. I wonder who this Sandwing is. she wondered.

Some Icewing guards went over to them and escorted them to the dungeon. It got darker and darker as they got deeper and deeper underground. Eeesh, couldn't they have put more light down here? Stargazer's mind scowled. They were chained together, and then shoved into an icy, dingy cell.... Or a basement looking place... "Damn this place is dark" Skyfire described. "Yeah. Like my soul." Stargazer added with a small chuckle. The place wasn't exactly.. 'Dingy' but it was definitely a dungeon they would not want to be in.

"Wow. And I thought I'd be here alone forever." A voice echoed through the frozen cavern walls. Oh. This is the Sandwing. Isn't it? her mind whirled. A Sandwing with an amber teardrop earring walked towards them. "Who in three moons are you?" Skyfire asked. The Sandwing chuckled. "I thought I would be more well known, as I am Queen Thorn's advisor, and kind of an adopted son," he said. "OKAY, WHAT IS IT ALWAYS WITH GODDAMN QUEENS AND PRINCES?!" Skyfire yelled aloud. Stargazer whacked her with her wing. "Girl, he might be a good roaster, be careful." she warned her.

"FINE. BUT SERIOUSLY! WHAT IS IT WITH QUEENS AND PRINCES THESE DAYS?!" Skyfire argued. Stargazer sighed at her companion's words. "I dunno. Maybe you're the Skywing queen's long lost daughter." She joked. The Sandwing let out a small chuckle. "Yeah, right, Anyways, uhm, the Sandwing?" Skyfire reminded her. Stargazer nodded and looked back at the Sandwing, realizing he had this zigzag scar across his snout. War wound or parent abuse scar? Who knows. She was tempted to ask, but didn't want to seem THAT rude.

"You still haven't told us your name." Stargazer told the Sandwing. He smiled somewhat and said: "I'm Qibli. What are your names?" As he walked closer to the moon globe lamp that was there. "I'm Stargazer, and this is," She points a claw at Skyfire, "My friend Skyfire." she finished. Qibli smiled at them. "Well, do you have any ideas on how to get out of here? Oh, and a minor question." He said, "What happened with you guys that you ended up here?" He enquired. Skyfire gave Stargazer a look saying 'who should tell him?'. Stargazer pointed a claw at herself and the Skywing nodded.

"Well, do you know Prince Winter?" Stargazer started. Qibli nodded. "Well... We definitely did not roast him a couple million times." she continued. Skyfire let out an uncontrollable jerk of laughter. Qibli tried to stop himself from laughing... And he failed horribly. "You actually did?" he said between bursts of laughter. "Hell yes we did, and it was so worth his reaction!" Skyfire exclaimed. Stargazer couldn't help but laugh too. "The Icewings think we'll just mope here, and here we are, talking about how we roasted Winter." Stargazer said before bursting into fits of laughter again. They all burst into fits of laughter.

"I'm Prince Winter the Icewing! I don't tell secrets to low life peasants! Haughty sniff." Stargazer imitated Winter's voice, almost perfectly. Qibli and Skyfire burst into high fits of laughter. "That was so-" He was still laughing, "-Exactly like Winter!" He cried. Skyfire nodded. She was actually laughing so much, there were tears starting to form in her eyes. "C-Calm down guys!" Stargazer said before Qibli and Skyfire could die laughing.

Eventually, the laughter died down. "I'm a bit surprised that none of us died of laughter" Qibli joked. Skyfire and Stargazer nodded in amusement. As the trio of dragons continued talking, footsteps started to echo towards them. The footsteps got louder and louder. Qibli made a 'shhhh, be quiet' face at them. The dragonets nodded.

An Icewing stepped into the moon globe light. But it wasn't just any Icewing... It was Winter. "Out of all dragons, I never expected you to come down here. Shouldn't you be doing your royal ceremony stuff?" Stargazer said. Winter sneered at her. "We heard noise down here. What are you idiots doing?" Winter explained briefly. He seemed like he really didn't want to be down here.

Stargazer smirked and said: "We definitely were not laughing at your royal snootiness." in a posh voice. Qibli and Skyfire burst out laughing. Winter looked like he was about to do his 'royal punishing time' but he just stood there.

Stargazer backed up a little. Winter perked his head up and smirked. "Are you FINALLY intimidated by me now?" He announced. Stargazer shook her head and said: "I'm just trying to not get the Winter Virus." Qibli and Skyfire looked at her, puzzled. "I've never heard of the Winter Virus before. What is it?" Qibli asked her. "He's extremely toxic," Stargazer answered.

"I'M NOT!" Winter yelled. Stargazer rolled her eyes. "Yeah, you definitely did not threaten us." She pointed out. Winter seemed to be in a violent mood, but he didn't do anything. "It seems you're going through high levels of deja vu right now, ahem, Your majesty." Stargazer really couldn't stop roasting Winter now. This should be my new hobby. She thought.

Winter just groaned. "Just shut up already! You already roasted me a gazillion times. Can you ever shut that annoying mouth of yours?" Winter complained. Stargazer looked at Skyfire and then back at Winter. "Nope. You should have thought about that, instead of moping in the corner 24/7." Stargazer replied, as a smirk appeared on her face.

"We're getting nowhere." Winter groaned. Stargazer had another roast pop up in her head. "Are you describing where your brain is, your highness?" She roasted. Winter hissed at her as she laughed her head off. "Not funny." He growled at the trio of dragons. Qibli couldn't help but strike a small laugh.

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Igloo-face," Skyfire retorted. Qibli and Stargazer burst into stifles of laughter. Winter looked like he was about to claw their faces off. "Shut up." He replied. Stargazer decided to cut the dragon some slack, so she stopped laughing

Qibli and Skyfire's laughter died down eventually too. "I'll be leaving now. Goodnight." He grumbled as he walked back up the stairs. There was a 'clack!' Sound and then silence. "Damn it's drafty down here, Can we light a campfire?" Skyfire questioned, starting to feel colder. Qibli sighed and shook his head. "Nope. This place is enchanted to not be able to melt or crack. So no fires could even survive." Qibli explained them.

"Well that's just great." Skyfire said sarcastically. Stargazer sighed. Qibli smiled slightly and wrapped his wings around the two, warming them up a bit. "I've forgotten that Sandwings radiate heat," Stargazer claimed. Skyfire nodded, agreeing with her Nightwing friend's statement.

Qibli chuckled. As sleep was starting to look over them as night drew further on. By the time an Icewing guard came down to check on them, the trio of dragonets had all fallen asleep.
