Opening my eyes I was met with unfamiliar surroundings. A familiar face popped up in front of me as My vision cleared up.

"Oh thank God you're awake. How do you feel?"

Blinking a few times I tried to move and winced as pain flared in my side.

"Hey hey, take it easy you got hurt during the evacuation. One of those things hit you and you were knocked unconscious, we barely managed to escape after dragging you on the ship. You've been out cold for the past two days."

Memories of running through the hall and unto a dark monstrous creature flashed in my mind. I faintly remember it attacking and getting knocked back but everything after that was dark.

"W-where are we Reid?"

"in the medbay of one of the older service ships, a skeld class... fucking miracle we made it out, This ships practically falling appart."

The medbay door opened and we both looked over As someone else in a red medical suit walked in. "Oh? She's awake?" He looked between the two of us.

"Yeah, just woke up, thankfully. Did you check up on the others?"

"Those that would let me yeah. no real injuries, a few scrapes and bruises but besides that no one seems To be hurt, just shaken up."

"good, good. That's the best we can ask for Right now" Reid sighed.

"What Happened to the colony? How many made it out?" I asked.

They both shared an uncertain look before looking back at me. "We don't know exactly... comms are damaged. Everyone onboard is shaken by what happened and this ship is falling apart. There were so many of those things running around. It's impossible to say how many people made it out but the entire colony was destroyed."

I took a shaky breath and covered my face with my arm. 'How could this have happened? How did it come to this...'

"don't think about it too much, Aris, you should focus on recovering." Reid patted my shoulder.

"Easier said than done, the captain wants to hold a meeting with everyone. He's been holding it off until she woke up but I doubt he's gonna wait much longer."

"tsk she needs some time to rest, they can wait a few more hours!" Reid angrily spat before turning back to me with a sigh.

"No, it's fine... let's do the meeting." I grabbed Reid's arm willing him to help me up. "But first, I need to know. Has Anything happened while I was out? Has anyone seemed strange?" Reid and the other medic looked at eachother thinking but didn't seem to remember anything particularly interesting.

"No? Why?" Reid Questioned.

I wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or not. Clutching my shirt I took a deep breath hoping I was wrong hoping that it didn't come to that. But right now there was no telling. I just hope we find out before it's too late.

Looking up to Reid I gave him a warm smile. "It's nothing, let's go to the meeting."

Watching a rat scurry across the ground my tendril snapped out at lighting speed Pierced right through it like a harpoon. Lifting the dead rodent I huffed annoyed. I had been eating nothing but rats since I first woke and it's done little to quench my appetite.

I wasn't willing to attempt hunting the humans quite yet, I had to be careful. My body had adjusted nicely but I still wasn't sure if I could control myself completely yet. If I managed to kill a human I may go into a feeding frenzy and that would leave me vulnerable. Someone might catch me or even attempt to kill me. Not to mention my vocals have yet to be perfected, there was no way for me to talk my way out of a situation if I ended up caught.
