I woke up and Cas was gone. I got up, showered and changed out of my clothes from yesterday. The heater was working today so I was happy. I walked downstairs and it was empty. After checking the basement, library, living room, and kitchen I concluded that they left for the day. I sighed and made a coffee for breakfast.
"Happy birthday, " I muttered to myself before taking a sip. As a singer you don't really celebrate birthdays; last year it was my turn to dig up the grave. I sat on the counter, letting my legs mindlessly swing back and forth. Sixteen and doing nothing, I thought.
At two the Impala and Bobby's car roared into the yard. Sam got out and walked inside.
"So Bobby needs you to do this stuff," he said.
"Some of this stuff is in the town, what about Ellen she is farther than the town," i said.
"You're smart, find a way to get it done," Sam said handing me three hundred dollars. I sighed and waved to the cars as I walked out the door.
Bobby needed me to check on a house that may be haunted, go pick up some ingredients for different rituals, and go check in at the bar. I sighed knowing how long it will take.
I got to the house and pick locked the door, something Sam taught me. I walked in and was greeted by a blast of cold air. I looked around and something walked in front of me. I followed it up the stairs and it stopped. So I stopped 3/4 of the way up. It shrieked at me and flew over to me. Shit I thought, banshee. I ducked and ran down the stairs. I felt it bony hands grab my shoulder and I whipped my knife out and swung around me. It disappeared for just long enough so I can get out the door. I checked my phone 2:59.
I went to the local supermarket knowing which clerks to talk to. I walked over to the meat packaging. I got a number and waited. Once I was up I slipped the meat grinder a paper that said what I needed. He looked suspiciously at me.
"Bobby's daughter," I said and he nodded with a wink. He put all the stuff that was on the paper into a box. He put it on the counter for me. He put a bar code and a price.
"It's going to be more than last time," he said.
"How much?" I asked.
"$115," he said. "Unless you want to pay in a different kind of way."
I sighed, "No," handing him the money and leaving.
All the other stuff was easy, the spice shop, cemetery, and the hospital. I was left with a twenty as I started to walk to the bar. Once in the middle of nowhere the bar was there. I opened the door and looked at the time 6:30 while putting the stuff down. Other hunter's looked at me as I walked up to the counter. I waited as Jo came over to talk.
"Hey what's up kid," she asked.
"Bobby needs me to talk to Ellen," I said.
She nodded, "Want something to drink?"
"A whiskey, " I said.
Jo looked at me ashamed. "You're under age. "
"But it's my birthday, " I pleaded. "You never drank before 21?"
She sighed knowing I was right. She poured me a shot of whiskey. I smiled as I drank it. It burned my throat and I let out a little cough.
Ellen walked out and eyed us. She smiled. "Happy birthday, honey."
I smiled, "thanks."
"What brings you here?" She asked.
"Bobby wanted me to check in on the bar, " I said, she nodded for me to continue. "Do you need help with a case? Bobby or I can help you."
We talked about it and she wrote down something and handed it to me. I was about to leave.
"Hey baby come over here," a drunk yelled.
I walked over a smiled. "What do you need, you drunken? A good hangover? "
"No, no I'm perfectly fine," he said.
I sighed and left, it was dark. 7:15. I sighed as I walked out on the street. I got to the town and bought a drink. I took sips while walking. I finally got home and their cars were there. They probably ditched me for another hunt. I put the stuff right inside the door.
I walked in and Bobby, Sam, Dean, and Cas jumped out and yelled surprise. I jumped out of fright and they started to laugh. I laughed too.
We sat in the living room and talked. Dean was in the kitchen and I heard him yell, "Now most important thing on any birthday."
He walked out with an apple pie with candles lit on top. I smiled as they sung happy birthday. I blew out the candle as we all grabbed a piece.
"Earlier Dean was telling me what to and what not to say to you. So how does it feel being closer to your death" Cas said.
"Well since I already died, I'm not really looking for it," I said.
"Now presents," Bobby said. He handed me a small red bag. I opened it and found a new gun with some ammo that had a devils trap carved into it.
"Bobby thanks," I said.
Next Dean handed me a bag from a convenient store. I untied it and found some candy and snacks. I smiled at his effort. Sam handed me a box with a bow on top. I opened it to find a new lock pick kit.
"You keep having to borrow mine," Sam said smiling. "So I got you your own."
Cas was last as he just smiled. He handed me a huge box. I opened it to a giant dog plushie. It was a little shorter than me. I laughed when I saw.
"This is my favorite, " I said.
"Dammit Cas we agreed to not one up each other," Dean complained. "Now I look bad."
