I don't know how I feel about Darrow wanting to protect Mustang in the battle that commences his fight with Cassius. They had a falling out, but obviously there are still feelings there on both sides. It's likely they'll get back together before long. Mustang is playing her own game, too.
Darrow's little game with the Sovereign is riveting to read. I keep wondering what question will be next, how he will get information without revealing his own. He is a dangerous player in this game and it seems the Sovereign recognizes that.
The reunion with Sevro and the Howlers is delicious. Has Mustang been on Darrow's side this whole time? If so, she has some explaining to do for bedding Cassius. For the mission or not, she has taken him to bed.
I haven't been able to predict what will happen next so far in this book. It's not that there are twists, just carefully laid paths that can go this way or that.
I have suspicious of Sevro and Quinn. They seem to have grown close stationed together on the Outer Rim. Sevro loves her, but did something happen to make Quinn betray Rogue? She was with Cassius first before Rogue.
It doesn't seem like the Jackel's nature to operate so quickly on Quinn. He seems more like the kind to sit idly by and make snarky comments. Why is he so keen to act?
Victra kisses Darrow, a very chaste kiss, before he launches himself into space. Did she do that because she truly loves Darrow, or because Mustang is on board and she wants to show her up?
Darrow finally got to shoot hismelf into space at an enemy ship. The Stained's dialogue being bolded is interesting. I get annoyed when I see sentences in all caps, when I see italicized sentences I think of them as internal dialogue or flashbacks, I don't see a lot of bolded sentences.
I cried when Sevro revealed that he's known the truth about Darrow for months. He's still here, Sevro is ride or die. After everything they've been through, he is the one to make it through. But, would it have felt better if Darrow told him himself?
