Pietro's POV
"I'm gonna say this once." Captain Rogers said as we entered the lab where Stark was working on the cradle.
"How about none-ce?" Stark replied.
"Shut it down!"
"Nope, not gonna happen."
"You don't know what you're doing." Rogers said.
"And you do?" Dr. Banner asked. "She's not in your head?"
"I know you're angry." Wanda said, stepping out from behind Rogers.
"Oh we're way past that. I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade." I clenched my jaw at the threat.
"Banner, after everything that's happened..."
"It's nothing compared to what's coming!" Stark yelled.
"You don't know what's in there." Wanda argued. I looked around, and seeing my target, I ran and unplugged the machine.
"No, no. Go on." I said. "You were saying?" I heard a gunshot and watched as a bullet flew up in front of me. The glass beneath my feet shattered and I fell down onto the next floor. Hawkeye smirked down at me and said,
"What? You didn't see that coming?" I sighed, and watched, surprised, as a red-haired woman came and shoved him off of me.
"Leave him alone, Clint." He hesitated a second, before running upstairs to see what was going on. Kamila gave me her hand and helped me up.
"Nice to see you again." She said, smirking.
"Yeah. You look good." Her cheeks burned with a slight blush.
"You don't look too bad yourself, Speedy." I rolled my eyes at the nickname and then we went up the same stairs that Hawkeye had previously been on. We got up in enough time to see Thor landing, summoning lightning, and throwing it onto the cradle. I watched as the thing inside flew out of its box. It flew at Thor and then flew past. It ended up looking out the window. It studied itself in the reflection. After a minute it turned around to face the group. I had run over and was standing by Wanda.
"I am sorry. That was odd." The thing, which had a male British accent, looked to Thor and said, "Thank you." It then proceeded to grow a cape.
"Thor. You helped create this?" Captain Rogers asked.
"I've had a vision. A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life, and at its center is that." He pointed at the gem in the beings head.
"What, the gem?" Dr. Banner asked.
"It's one of the six Infinity Stones. The greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities."
"Then why would you..." Rogers began before Thor cut him off.
"Because Stark is right."
"Oh it's definitely the end times." Dr. Banner said.
"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron."
"Not alone." The vision said.
"Why does your Vision sound like Jarvis?" Rogers asked.
"We reconfigured Jarvis's matrix to create something new." Stark repelled.
"I think I've had my fill of new."
"You think I'm a child of Ultron." The vision said.
"You're not?" Kamila said. I looked over at her and I noticed her fists were clenched.
"I'm not Ultron. I am not Jarvis. I am..." It struggled to find the right words. "I am."
"I looked in your head and saw annihilation." Wanda said, looking at the man.
"Look again." Hawkeye came in and scoffed.
"Her seal of approval means jack to me."
"Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone. And they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side..." Thor said.
"Is it?" Rogers interrupted. Turning to the thing, "Are you? On our side?"
"I don't think it's that simple." It replied.
"Well it better get real simple, real soon." Hawkeye said.
"I am on the side of life. Ultron isn't. He will end it all."
"What's he waiting for?" Stark asked.
"You."
"Where?" Dr. Banner asked.
"Sokovia." Kamila said. "He's got Tasha there, too." Wanda and I exchanged a worried look.
"If we're wrong about you, if you're the monster that Ultron made you to be." Dr. Banner said, slowly walking toward the vision.
"What will you do?" The room was deadly silent. It continued, "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the Earth. So, he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net. We have to act now. And none of us can do it without the others." It paused and looked down at its hands. "Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one." I watched as Kamila looked away. It continued. "I am not what you are, and not what you intended. So, there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go." It handed Thor his hammer. The group stared dumbstruck as it walked away.
"Right." Thor said and walked to pat Stark on the shoulder. "Well done."
"Three minutes." Rogers said. "Get what you need."
"Red." Stark said. "Follow me." Kamila flashed me a grimace before following him. Rogers showed us where we could get any gear we needed. I grabbed a new shirt, and a new set of sneakers. I looked through the closet and saw a red leather jacket. I tossed it over at Wanda. She looked up at me.
"What?" I asked. "Red is your color." She rolled her eyes but put on the jacket. I grabbed my jacket that I had been wearing. I grabbed the red cloth out of the pocket. I began fidgeting with it. Wanda nudged my shoulder. She was looking at something behind me. I turned around and caught my breath.
Kamila was standing there in the uniform she had been wearing in the warehouse. But she'd gotten an upgrade. She had red fingerless gloves, red knee-pads, a red belt with the Avengers A, and red boots. Her hair hung loose down her back. She looked really good.
"Nice suit." I complemented, getting over my speechlessness.
"Thanks." She subconsciously bit a finger nail. I looked down at the scarf in my hand.
"Here." I walked over and handed it to her.
"Is this my mask?" She asked, and I nodded.
"I grabbed it before we left." I stepped behind her. "May I?" I asked and she nodded. I put the base of it underneath her hair and I tied it at the top. It was now being used as a headband.
"See. Instead of it reminding you of those days, now it can remind you of this." She smiled at me. We were only two inches apart in height and our faces were really close.
"Thank you." She murmured.
"Of course." I replied, looking into her green eyes. Wanda coughed and that broke us out of our trance. I glared over at her, and she smiled innocently.
