The next two days were much stranger. My work increased considerably. Mr.Tweedy was busy with that strange machine and I had to do all his work. Melisha didn't help me in the slightest. She didn't even seem to be present. She was wrapped up in a pile of papers and calculations. It seemed like she didn't have time for anyone, not for me either.
I spent those two long nights alone, without company, without those hugs that gave me life, which made me forget the little time I had left on that farm. I didn't give it too much importance. She must have been busy... But, so busy to ignore me like that?
That morning I woke up thoughtful, sighing. It didn't even seem like her routine was the same. The characteristic noise from the kitchen told me that she had woken up long before me. Had she even slept?
I dressed quickly, checking that Mr.Tweedy was still sleeping peacefully. Everything was upside down. He slept more than necessary, she didn't sleep enough time. I suddenly found myself in an unknown world, as if nothing that had happened was real. My insides screamed to that nightmare to end.
I went down the stairs slowly, determined to have a time like before, a special time for us.
"Hey..." I said, walking behind her, rubbing her back with my hand, seductively drawing her attention. She didn't flinch, but she turned her head, moving the coffee pot away from the heat.
"Good morning, brat..." She whispered with a smile. My body felt relieved when her hands grabbed my waist again, when her kisses returned to my lips after two days of torture. "Did you sleep well?" She asked, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"I... Well, I've missed you," I whispered in a childish voice. She sighed and gave a short but mocking laugh.
"You have to forgive me. I have a lot of things to do..." She sighed, resting her forehead on mine, giving me a false sense of security. I turned away from her, clearing my throat, looking at her intrigued.
"What kind things?" I asked without thinking too much. Curiosity never left my head.
"Important things, brat," she said coldly, returning to that calculating look of the last few days. "You don't have to worry about it."
"Well, of course I worry," I said, crossing my arms, raising my tone of voice a little. "You have not paid any attention to me the last two days."
It sounded like a capricious teenager's reproach, but it needed to be said. Time was running out little by little and, with no more information than a gigantic machine and a lot of unanswered questions, my priority was to be as close to her as possible.
Melisha put on a mischievous, evil look as she wrapped her arms around me from behind, kissing my neck softly.
"Oh, my poor brat... Don't be mad at me," she said whispering, making me tremble as usual. –"Relax, I haven't forgotten about you."
I moved away before succumbing to her caresses again, before everything got out of control like that time when we couldn't control ourselves and the countertop was witness to our unbridled passion.
"Just, I just don't know how long I can stay here," I acknowledged, fleeing from her arms when my breathing accelerated dangerously. "I don't know what to say to my parents."
Melisha growled in frustration, but she leaned on the counter next to me, staring at the ceiling.
"You'll have to think something. I've already told you that this is not going to be quick," she said, sighing, not giving importance to my words. They really were important.
I sighed, crossing my arms, shaking my head.
"It would help me a lot to know what that damn machine is," I said in a low voice, subtly demanding an explanation. She laughed again, glancing at me out of the corner of her eye.
