The Blade of the Military
Sirens blaring in the background
"Is he okay!" a woman shouted from across the area. "He's not responding and his heartbeat is faint!" a man shouted back. Ally couldn't understand what was going on around her. Everything was muffled and she was barely conscious. "Ma'am! Ma'am! Please stay awake!" Even though the voice of the woman was muffled in Ally's ear she could tell she was directing it towards her. She didn't answer, instead she intently stared at the man laying just a few feet away from her. She reached her hand out trying to intertwine their hands together, but was cut short by the sudden blackness that clouded her vision. Even though she couldn't see she could still hear the muffled voices in the background. She could only make out one line before she completely lost consciousness. "He's not going to make it!" Then everything went silent.
Chapter 1
Beep Beep Beep
The beeping sound echoed throughout Ally's room. After about 10 seconds Ally finally decided to stop the beeping before she blew a gasket. She slowly sat up and reached out her hand for her alarm where she clicked the off button. Ally yawned as she looked down at her dog comfortably laying in her bed. "Well aren't you lucky? You don't have to get up at 6:30 in the morning to get ready for school." Ally said sarcastically. It was her first day of high school today. You would think she would be a bit more excited about this but really all she cared about was getting more sleep. The only thing she was looking forward to was seeing her friends again after not seeing them for 3 months.
She got up out of her bed and headed towards the bathroom. She did her normal routine that morning and got dressed in casual-comfy clothes. She put on lightly colored blue jean shorts that stopped halfway down her thighs, a plain white t-shirt that was tucked into her shorts, a light yellow sweatshirt tied around her waist, and slipped on her favorite pair of hightops that were painted with a black and white checkerprint. She looked in the mirror as she looked herself up and down to make sure she looked good for the first day. Her light brown semi-curly hair with a red tint and some blonde in it as well dangled halfway down her back. "Well I'm too lazy to try anymore than this." Ally grumbled. She turned away from the mirror, grabbed the rest of the stuff she needed, put her backpack on her back, and headed downstairs.
She expected to go downstairs to a dark and empty living room like normal, but instead all of the lights were on downstairs and she could hear noises coming from the kitchen. She walked into the kitchen only to find her mother standing there in front of the toaster. Ally suspiciously looked at her mother."What are you doing up so early? You're never up right now." Ally asked with a curious look.
Ally's mom handed her a plate with toast.
"Here, your favorite. Did you seriously forget?" She asked.
"Forget what?"
"I always get up early on your first day of school every year so I can get a picture of you and drive you to school on your first day." Ally's mom explained.Ally remembered her mother mentioning that before, but she honestly didn't remember that ever happening. She didn't give it much more thought though and instead picked up a piece of toast and took a bite.
"Is it good?" Ally's mom asked.
"Yeah it tastes great, thank you."
"Oh good I'm glad! I was a bit scared that I messed it up!"
Ally stared at her mom like she was stupid.
"How exactly do you mess up toast? Unless you burn it to a crisp I don't know how that's possible." Ally said jokingly.
"Well you know me, I'll always find a way to screw something up."
"That's something I can agree with." Ally and her mom both laughed and continued their conversation. Finally, it was time to leave. Ally picked up her backpack as her mom waited at the door for her. They both headed outside. Ally was heading straight for the car when her mom called out for her.
"Ally!"
Ally whipped her head back around.
"Remember? I want a picture."Ally had forgotten about the part. She sluggishly walked over to her mother who positioned her where she wanted to take the picture. Ally was not too cheerful about this saying she wasn't too fond about taking pictures. It wasn't even the taking of the pictures part it was just the fact that she wasn't very photogenic. Pretty much every photo she has ever taken turns out terrible, no matter how hard she tries.
Her mom finished taking the photo and showed it to Ally. Honestly, the photo wasn't that bad. It was pretty good compared to her other photos. Her mom asked her if she wanted to retake it, but Ally was fine with the one that was already taken so she settled on that. Mainly because she just didn't want to take another picture. Since they were done with that Ally went over and retrieved her backpack that she had set on the ground before she took the picture. She put it over her back, walked over to the car, got in, and they took off to the school.Once they arrived at the school, Ally's mom waited in the car line to drop Ally off at the front door of the high school. Their car gradually reached the high school entrance where Ally unlocked the car door and stepped out. "Bye mom, I'll see you later!" Ally's mom waved goodbye as Ally closed the car door behind her.
Ally made her way into the school. She pulled out her phone and checked her group chat. It was between her and her other 3 guy best friends. They were all supposed to meet up with each other, but just as she was pulling up her messages she got attacked from behind. She almost toppled over, but luckily she caught her balance in time. She turned around to see Matt, John, and Gary all looking down at her.
Ally was pretty short so pretty much everyone towered over her. They were all a few inches taller than each other, shortest to tallest, going from Matt to John to Gary. Gary was the tallest out of them all. He was about 6'0 and he'd been that tall for a year now so he's always been quite the giant. He had dark brown short hair, a long face, and a slender body. John was tall, just not as tall as Gary. He had a lot more meat on him than Gary. Though the majority of it was all muscle. He had medium-dark brown short hair with a chubby face. Matt looked like your average freshman. He was average height with dirty blonde-brown longish hair and a pretty normal face shape."Hey! What the heck? You could of at least given me a warning." Ally stared at them all intently.
"Well that would ruin the surprise though, wouldn't it?" John said while smirking.Ally wanted to be mad at him for a little while longer, but she couldn't bring herself to it. She grabbed them all by their shirts and pulled them into a group hug. "It's nice to see you all again." They were all pretty shocked by this but leaned into the group hug anyways. "It's nice to see you too, Ally." Matt said.
They pulled apart from each other and exchanged a few faces. "So are we going to share our schedules or what?" Asked Gary. They all laughed and grabbed their paper schedules out of their backpacks. They held their papers out in the middle of their little circle and looked to see if there were any similarities between their schedules. Everyone ended up having a couple classes with each other so it was a win-win for everyone.Beep
A 3 second bell rang telling everyone that there's 5 minutes until classes start. "Well we should all probably head to our classes so we're not late." Ally said. They all agreed. Ally and Matt walked one direction while John and Gary walked the other. Ally and Matt ended up having 1st period together which was math. They both weren't very excited about having math as their first class, but at least they had it together. Ally and Matt entered the classroom and started their first day of high school.
