DOCTOR: He is internally bleeding. We must have missed a fragment of the bullet during surgery.
CELINA: Okay so what does this mean?
DOCTOR: We have to get him back into surgery immediately.
CELINA: Is he going to be okay?
The Doctor and nurses ignore her as they are trying to rush Aaron into surgery
CELINA: Doctor?
DOCTOR: We are going to do everything we can.
Celina follows them as they wheel Aaron into the operating room.
Hours have passed. Celina has been sitting in the waiting room while Aaron is in surgery. Finally the doctor comes out. Celina sees the doctor and jumps eager and worried to hear what he says.
DOCTOR: We were able to stop the bleeding and remove the fragment that we missed before. He is stable but still not breathing on his own so only time will tell from here.
Celina relieved but still worried.
CELINA: Thank you.
The doctor nods smiles and rubs his hand on her shoulder as he walks away. Celina sits back down and takes a deep breathe telling herself.
CELINA: It's gonna be okay.
She then gets up to go see Aaron in recovery. She walks in his room closing the door behind her. She doesn't say anything she just sits down next to him and tries to goes to sleep. Not knowing if Aaron was ever gonna wake up again she struggles to fall asleep but she is so drained physically and emotionally from everything she eventually falls asleep.
She wakes up hours later to see there is still no change with Aaron. She sighs and is visibly disappointed. Sergeant Grey comes in and advises her to go home, take a shower, get some food, and relax. She refuses
WADE: Celina go home take a shower, get some food, and relax, you've been through a lot in a short span of time and there's nothing more you can do here.
CELINA: Yeah there is. I can stay here with him so if he wakes up he'll have someone to be here for him or if he...
She pauses for a minute not wanting to say what she's about to say.
CELINA: If he uhm if he doesn't. He won't die alone.
WADE: Celina you can't think like that.
CELINA: No I know. It's just hard not to. Sir what if he really doesn't make it?
WADE: Hey we aren't there yet.
CELINA: I just I don't know what I'd do without him. How I could go into the station everyday and not see him, how I could ever play Dungeons and Dragons again without him, how I could go everyday without talking to my best friend. Jus- just don't know how I could go on about my life everyday without him.
WADE: Celina...
CELINA: I know. We aren't there yet.
WADE: Okay well keep me posted I have to get back to the station.
CELINA: Yeah okay.
More time has passed as Celina has not left Aaron's side once she gets closer to him grabs his hand puts her head down and starts to sob softly as she says.
CELINA: Come on Aaron please, please Aaron please.
Her voice trembles and cracks. As she sits there holding his hand with her head down continuously sobbing softly. She then feels his hand start to slowly grip her hand, she lifts her head up and looks at him, she slowly stops crying. She is looking back and forth between Aaron' face and their hands gripping one another. Aaron's eyes start to open, Celina's face lights up as she has a huge smile from ear to ear, Aaron's eyes fully open, he looks at Celina and they share a moment as they are both just staring at each other now.
