⚠️Spoilers for Arc 3 and Book 15⚠️

(This is an alternative thing that could have happened in Book 15, where while Luna is stuck in the abys dealing with Lizard/Freedom and Cottonmouth, Pyrrhia sent a bunch of dragons to fight the controlled Pantalan dragons instead of just the stealth team. This was because of fear of the breath of evil getting to Pyrrhia. In this AU, only Wren, Sky, and Pineapple went with Luna to find the abys.)

Cricket's POV

Cricket fought with all her might against her LeafWing attacker, which wasn't exactly much. A name flashed in her head.

Nettle

This was the arrogant "PoisonWing" who had been in the group that went to find Hawthorn. She remembered how she had hated Cricket for being a HiveWing.

Cricket struggled against Nettle. The LeafWing was a trained, experienced fighter, and Cricket had hardly even thought of fighting.

Until now. She reminded herself grimly.

Suddenly Cricket heard something that made her fill with relief.

"I'M GOING TO ENJOY THIS!" Sundew roared as she flew at Nettle. The white-eyed LeafWing was taken by surprise, and Cricket was grateful for Sundew's (possibly accidental) help.

Cricket looked around, taking a moment to rest. Roaring, angry Pyrrhian dragons surrounded her, battling white eyed HiveWings, LeafWings, and SilkWings. Her heart caught in her throat.

SilkWings like Blue. Blue. The dragon she was praying on Clearsight she would not have to face. Poor Blue who was probably being forced to use his flamesilk against his will. If he's not already dead. The dark corner of her mind murmured. No, Blue is not dead! I refuse to believe that until I see his body.

She was literally knocked out of her thoughts when two battling LeafWings slammed into her, sending her tumbling sideways through the air. She managed to catch herself a minute before she hit the ground but slammed into a HiveWing.

She summoned all of the battle training Sundew had given her and began to fight the orange and black striped dragon.

Blue's POV

Blue winced inwardly as he felt flamesilk spiral out of his wrist and heard the dragon he was forced to attack howl in agony. All he could do was watch, as his talons slashed the glittery white dragon's throat and she fell to the ground.

His mind retreated deeper into himself, guilt making him want to cry even though he couldn't. He was relieved that at least he hadn't come across Swordtail, Io, Sundew, or Cricket and been forced to hurt or even kill one of them.

Especially Cricket. His mind whispered. Blue didn't know what he would do with himself if he was forced to hurt or kill the beautiful HiveWing. He shoved the horrible thought to the back of his mind, and instead watched miserably as the thing controlling him made him fly over to a black dragon with wings that looked like the night sky. The hottest type of flamesilk, sun silk, spiraled out of his wrists. Within a moment it set the howling starry dragon ablaze. He felt pain flare through him as a sizzling black venom landed on his leg from a dark red dragon who looked like a chameleon.

As he had learned to do over the time he was controlled, he blocked the feeling of pain and comforted himself by thinking about Cricket. He pictured her kind face that looked like the sun, framed by her small round glasses. Her voice when she was asking her millions of questions, high with curiosity and excitement. And most of all, the feeling of her warm wings wrapping around him, telling him she loved him, and everything would be okay. A gaping pit of sadness opened up inside him when he realized he very well might never see Cricket again.
