Shu Ning continued to fight against those small time monsters without a single break in between. After half a day he was already completely exhausted and sweating profusely. His arm was hurting from the strain and it was getting more and more difficult to raise the dagger in time to block of an incoming attack. He had killed over fivehundred creatures by then when his character finally reached level 10. His status window popped open automatically and an ecplosion of colour appeared on the screen together with the text:

"Congratulation player for reaching level 10. With this the beginner phase of the game is officially over and you are finally allowed to wander into the different areals this game has to offer. The red desert, the spicky mountains, the poisonous swamp and the misty meadow. But do be careful of the monsters there. They are not to be trifled with. To be able to deal with them you should choose a class quickly. Good luck little adventurer."

Shu Ning pulled the dagger out of a dissapearing corps and stuck it back into his belt. Before any of them could respawn again, he quickly left the place and walked back towards town. Instead of approaching the entrance though, he turned right in front of the stone path and followed the curves of the wall.

Everywhere he looked he could see trees surrounding the settlement and beyond that the glimpses of a mountain. Though he swiftly lost sight of the latter as he continued his treck around the town. On the other side was another entrance that would lead towards the center of it and a bit further in the distance, right before the first line of greens, stood a rundown hut.

Shu Ning stepped away from the wall and neared the small cabin. He pushed open the wooden door which gave way easily and immediately closed it back behind him. The interior was flooded with warm sunlight that shone through the broken glass of the window and illuminated the sparcely furnited room. A wooden table, a fireplace and an armchair. That was all. Another door lead to the bedroom with a matress layed out in the middle and a desk off to the side. That was where Shu Ning stopped right in front of.

Surveying the scene, he swept the loose paper from the surface and rummaged through the mess left behind untill his hands grabbed a leather bound book. This was a diary written by the owner of the hut and the object he had been looking for. The first few pages were covered with unimportant information that he skipped over, but at the end he noticed the scribbling becoming more and more frantic until it was barely readable anymore.

After skimming over the parts Shu Ning could still make out, he closed the book again. The diary belonged to the chief of the town who had retired towards this cabin a few years prior. As the town's defenses kept away most of the dangerous creatures, the man felt save to room outside of it's well kept boundary. Which didn't pose to be a problem for some time but then he suddenly heard strange noises comming from the forest at night. It got so far that the male couldn't sleep at night as something was scratching at the wooden walls of the hut or knocking against the glass of the window. The chief got scared and asked some of his friends to look into it for him but they couldn't find anything and just called him paranoid. The text ended shortly after the people had left and the man descided to investigate the matter himself.

The sound of a bell startled Shu Ning back into the presence. A screen had opened in front of him again, this time asking him if he wanted to take on the class related mission of a healer. Smiling cheerfully, he pressed accept and placed the diary back onto the mess of the desk. Having finished what he came here to do, he left the house again while opening the map of the game.

For this mission he had to go through the red desert, find the mssing chief and bring him back save and sound. Luckily the male's position was marked with a bright pink dot on the map, so he knew exactly where he had to go. Following the line of the town back towards where he came from he crossed through the forest, making sure to avoid most of the monsters to save energy, and watched as the brown of the earth slowly but surely turned into dry grains of sand. The temperature got hotter as well and the dense atmosphere pressed heavily onto his lungs.
