-Y/N POV-

A few months pass. Everyday, Dex and I would meet up in the orientation hall and we greet each other with a usual high five.

I've never found another friend other than Dex, and he hasn't either. We're always content in each other's company, and we didn't really need anyone else to be happy.

He would help me in alchemy and I would help him in PE (my telekinesis is very strong)

Eventually, Dex became pretty good at splotching (or at least, better than before) and I got pretty good with my alchemy sessions.

One day, Dex invited me to spend the day helping him in Slurps and Burps.
Believe it or not, I've never met his family yet, even though he's met Elwin.

As I walk into the shop with an enthusiastic Dex by my side, the door burps.

A giggle escapes my lips. "That effect is always awesome."

Dex beams, showing his spectacular dimples, and he leads me to his room of creations.

I sit on his poofy periwinkle chair and it bounces slightly under me. Pinned scrolls of random designs about new potions and prank items line the walls and I read them with growing fascination.

"These are really cool." I tell Dex.

He grins widely. "Really? I thought they were stupid, so I never showed my dad, but I kept it there just in case. You like them?"

I run my index finger lightly across the pinned scroll. "If they were products in real life, I would definitely buy them."

Dex laughs, pleased. "Maybe I should show them to my dad."

"Well, tell me if they get created, cause I'll be the first buyer."

Dex lets out a whoop and I smile at his enthusiasm.

Crashing noises fill the back and a man's deep voice yells in frustration.

"That's my dad." Dex explains sheepishly. "He probably crashed a shelf again. I'm usually the one who fixes them."

My eyes grow wide. "Can I help?"

Dex rubs his neck. "I mean, if you want to... Then sure. That'll make this a lot easier for me."

I laugh. "All the more I want to help!!"

"Okay!" Dex leads the way. "Let's go!"

Soon, I reach the back of the shop, where a huge shelf of colourful potions had fallen. Broken glass litter the floor and different coloured liquid ripple in streams, running across different directions.

I wince at the mess. This is gonna take a long time to clean.

A small gnome rushes in to help clean them up and I crouch along with him, helping to pick up the shards.

"Hello. You must be Y/N Heslege. Dex has told me all about you." Kesler helps me up from my spot on the floor and I smile at him.

"Nice to meet you." I greet.

Dex stands by the side, awkwardly glancing between the two of us. "Um, Dad, Y/N's gonna help me with my chores today. She says she doesn't mind."

Kesler gives me a look. "Are you sure?"

I nod vigorously. "I'm sure."

Dex beams at his dad and Kesler sighs at his son. "Okay. Just clean up this mess, then that's all for today."

A bit disappointed by the small task, my smile droops slightly. "Sure, Mr Dizznee. We'll get right to it."

After Dex's dad leaves, he nudges me gleefully. "My dad doesn't want to tire you out so now I only get a little chores! I should invite you more often."

I chuckle at his words.

"Okay. Let's get to work."

Dex and I combine our telekinesis to lift up the shelf to lean against the wall, instead of the floor. Then Dex stares hopelessly at the glass bottles that still need to be shelved.

I smile at his expression. "Don't worry. I'll do this."

Lifting my hands and positioning my feet right, I draw energy from my mind and blast it through my veins, causing all of the bottles to float in the air. Carefully, I swish my arm to shelve them and they line up perfectly.

Dex stares at me with his mouth slightly open.

Feeling a little flustered, I flush pink. "Dad... taught me a lot."

His eyes twinkle. "You're amazing."

I avert his gaze and blush profusely, staring at my feet.

"Thanks." I mumble

I think Dex seems to notice my red cheeks, and he turns pink. "I- I meant your skill is amazing. Not that you're not amazing but..." he fumbles.

The corner of my mouth turns up to form a lopsided smile. "I've never heard the great Dexter Alan Dizznee stammer before." I snicker.

His flustered expression disappears to be replaced by a grinning one.

He smirks. "Only this one time, Heslege. Only this one time."

Sorry for the boring chapter!
The better parts will come, I promise.
