As Spencer knocked on Brittany's door, he couldn't help but feel a knot of nervousness in his stomach. He adjusted his gray suit jacket and straightened his white-striped shirt, trying to calm his nerves. When Brittany swung open the door, her excitement was palpable.
His eyes were immediately drawn to her sparkling black dress, but it was her platform heels that truly caught his attention. They added inches to her already impressive height, making her taller than him. He couldn't help but admire how gracefully she walked in them, despite their towering height.
"Spencer!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with excitement and a hint of tipsiness. "You made it! Come on in!"
Spencer stepped inside, a small smile playing on his lips as he handed her the gift he had brought. "Happy birthday, Brittany," he said warmly, holding out the book on poker history.
Brittany's eyes widened in surprise as she took the gift, her expression shifting from excitement to mock scolding. "Spencer, I told you no gifts!" she chided playfully, though a twinkle of appreciation sparkled in her eyes.
Spencer chuckled softly, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "I know, I know," he replied, his tone lighthearted. "But I couldn't resist. I thought you might enjoy it."
Brittany grinned, her smile radiant as she hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Spencer. You're so sweet!" she said, her words slightly slurred from the alcohol.
Then, with a mischievous glint in her eye, she called out to the other guests, "Hey, everyone! Remember, no gifts allowed! And... remember hands off my bedroom. The cat's in there, and he doesn't like visitors!"
Spencer laughed, feeling the tension in his shoulders ease as he followed Brittany into the lively atmosphere of her birthday celebration.
As he stepped into her home, he was greeted by familiar faces among the guests. Maya, Lawrence, Carly, Adam, and several others mingled in the cozy atmosphere of her New Year's Eve birthday party.
The air was filled with laughter and the sound of clinking glasses as friends came together to celebrate.
Spencer engaged in conversation with various guests, his eyes occasionally drifting towards Brittany, who danced with Lawrence to upbeat pop songs, her tiara sparkling atop her head. The sight brought a smile to Spencer's face as he watched her enjoy herself on her special night.
Later in the evening, Spencer noticed Brittany sitting alone on the balcony, her figure illuminated by the soft glow of the moonlight. Uncertain whether to disturb her solitude, he hesitated at the threshold.
However, before he could make a decision, Brittany caught sight of him and called out through the glass doors.
"Come in here, handsome... Yes, Spencer, I'm talking to you!"
Spencer stepped onto the balcony, his eyes immediately drawn to Brittany sitting on the ground, her heels still on despite the uncomfortable position.
As he approached, he couldn't help but notice the faint aroma of smoke lingering in the air.
"That's not a cigarette," he remarked, his voice tinged with curiosity and concern.
Brittany quirked an eyebrow at Spencer's response, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. "So... are you gonna cuff me, officer?" she teased, her tone light, as she extended her hands together in a mock gesture of being handcuffed.
Spencer shook his head, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I'm not a policeman," he clarified, his gaze meeting hers.
"Ah... right... but you do have cuffs?" Brittany inquired, her smirk widening.
