In the stillness of the night, as the world outside slumbered in silence, the cries of a baby echoed through the dimly lit room, stirring Spencer from his own restless sleep. With a gentle sigh, he turned to see Brittany beginning to stir, her eyelids fluttering open as she was roused from her slumber by their daughter's cries.
"I'll go," Spencer whispered softly, his voice barely above a hushed murmur as he reached out to brush a strand of hair from Brittany's face. "You should keep sleeping."
Brittany nodded sleepily, offering him a faint smile before sinking back into the comfort of their bed. With a tender kiss pressed to her forehead, Spencer quietly slipped out of bed.
As he stood up, the cat lying at their feet stirred, stretching languidly before curling back up to resume its slumber. With a gentle smile at the sight, Spencer carefully maneuvered around the feline, ensuring not to disturb its peaceful rest, before making his way to Bella's crib.
The soft glow of the nightlight cast a warm, comforting embrace around the room as Spencer lifted his daughter into his arms, cradling her close to his chest.
He rocked little Bella gently back and forth, the rhythm of his movements lulling her cries into soft whimpers as she nestled against him, her tiny fingers curled around his shirt.
As Spencer gazed down at his daughter's peaceful face, he felt a surge of love and protectiveness wash over him.
After a while there was no sound but the steady rhythm of Bella's breathing, no feeling but the warmth of her tiny body nestled against his own.
