Chapter 6

Candy's POV

It's been around five days since Nicolai called me to his study ever since then I made no effort to talk to him or even be in his presence, sure I was getting paid to act like Pearl but I'm giving her some dignity from what I read she follows this guy like a lost puppy it's weird.

Honestly staying home and watching movies wasn't for me, I wanted action to get back to work but since I was forbidden to do so by the Smith's saying that if I got caught by Nicolai it would tarnish their reputation or whateva.

I honestly tried to follow through and not work Lord knows I did but training in the gym is not as exciting as fighting for your life, so I decided to go back to work and keep it a secret from them.

Switching on my phone I am flooded with messages the first one I check out is about a get together I ignore that one knowing it would end awfully, I focus on the more high stakes missions no fraud or stealing from companies.

After almost an hour of searching I finally find a job I would want to do it was hella risky and I had to get it done by tonight so I waste no time packing my supplies, I was about to leave when a voice behind me stops me in my tracks ' Pearl where are you going ' I turn around to see Olivia standing in the living room 'umm I'm going over to a friends place I'll be back at around ten don't worry ' I croak out

'You should tell Nico before you go'

'No need I'll get going' with that I leave the house. It took around twenty minutes to arrive at the destination and get changed, the mission was going on subsequently well until some dumb fuck slipped up now we had to fight twenty to thirty guys who were armed 𝐼 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑛 𝐼 𝑑𝑖𝑑 𝑠𝑎𝑦 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑓𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑦 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒...

I'll spare you the details and say we got pretty lucky to have escaped with our lives only two people died while the rest of us had scares all over, on the hind side we completed the mission.

The ride home was silent no one wanted to speak about what happened but I know we all were grieving for the two we lost, 'here's your stop Siren... I'm sorry about what happened today' the buff guy in the back said 'it's ohk J we are a family... Vipers for life' I say smiling at him they look at each other before the sound of their voices booms'vipers for life'

'Take care we'll tell your dad your safe' with that they left and I limped my way home. It was really dark when I arrived I think a little over eleven walking in I didn't expect anyone to be awake which would be great but nothing seems to be going my way today.

My eyes widen as I stare at Nicolai it seems like he hasn't noticed me yet so I slowly sneek past him over to the stairs ' where have you been' his voice makes me freeze in place 'ummm I was with a friend we lost track of time' I blurted almost immediately

I don't turn around to see his expression because one he's probably glaring and I can't stand pretending to be weak right now and two I have a few bruises on my face and I'm bleeding so... There's a silence and I take it as a sign to leave apparently not though cause he continues 'I called all your friends they said they haven't seen you in months and that you weren't talking to them'

'It was another friend you don't know' I fake yawn 'well gotta go to bed goodnight' I was half way through the stairs when he spoke ' turn around Smith' I faulter at his words 'turn the fuck around Smith before I make you' I roll my eyes  and pretend I didn't hear him when I tell you I took two steps forward and this man was already behind me.

He turned me around with such force I didn't even know how to react, I know what your thinking 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡 20-30 𝑔𝑢𝑦𝑠 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑓𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑔𝑢𝑦 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑤 well I'll blame it on the fact that I'm being paid not to punch him and to act weak.

'Why are there blood stains on the floor' I was slightly taken aback by his choice of words 'i don't know' I say sheepishly at this point I don't know what's worse the pain from my wounds or how close this man is.

As if he read my mind or something he grabs me and carries me to the bathroom, 'let me go' I scream but to no avail once we get to the bathroom he switches on the light and puts me down, his eyes scan my body and land on my bruises 'sit down' he commands I had to fight back the edge to say something snarky.

I sat down on the seat that happened to be in the bathroom how convenient, I look on as Nicolai rummages through a cabinet and grabs a first aid kit. He comes over and applies some solution to cotton before dabbing it on my wounds, I say nothing as he does this but I did have questions like why he's being nice or why the hell he waited for me.

He cleans out the wounds on my face thank got he didn't notice the stab wounds, 'thanks ' was all I said before trying to leave 'where'd you get the bruises?' Great now he chooses to ask *sigh*...
