Nicolai POV

It's been two weeks since I got that call and I just can't stop recalling their words "if you stay by her side, your going to die ". Did they mean that she would kill me or who ever's after her would. Uhg I have to find out more about this woman.

It's probably not my wisest decision but here I am searching her room for anything I can find. I already went through her wardrobe, bedside table and files but nothing. I'm about to leave when I notice that one of the floorboards seems off, I crouch down and open it up what I find is honestly surprising. There's pictures of her in a group photo, I can't see who the people are but I do notice the logo behind them, it's an orphanage.

I must have been so out of it that I didn't hear her come in " what are you doing? " I freeze not knowing whether to come clean or lie, its better to choose the ladder "umm I was just passing by when I noticed this picture" I say while fixing the board and my posture. There's silence between us and the air seems thicker, her stare is fixed on the picture. She looks as though she could go feral any minute.

After a while she clears her throat "ohh ok " she grabs the photo and places it on her stand "you can leave " I make a move to leave but she stops me in my tracks "oh and Mr Ackerman" she turns to face me "curiosity killed the cat " my heart did this weird thing when I met her gaze but that's not the point, the point is I have to be more careful, if I'm going to find out who she is.

Candy's POV

The fact that he was able to find this picture is proof that this whole act won't last long, I have to meet up with the Smith's and see if they haven't found Pearl. I grab my phone and send a message over to Mrs Smith

'𝘐'𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳- 𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘯'

It's been a while since I saw those wretched people and I'm hoping after today it'll be my last time. I arrive at their home and let myself in, "how dare you let yourself in " 𝐼 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑛'𝑡 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑑  "so lovely to see you too " I fake smile, it's only the elders of the family this time around "we have a problem Nicolai seems to be catching on that I'm not the real Pearl" they look at me wide eyed with gaping mouths 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑎 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑠ℎ.

"You said you could impersonate her until she was found, then how-" Mrs Smith shouts "how the fuck is he catching on " she slams her fist on the table making the cutlery rattle. I shrug not really caring how "look have you found her? " it seems like they have been waiting for this question to pop up, considering how they pass glances at each other " we got a letter, it says that if we turned you in they would give us Pearl back"

I don't even have to ask who the letter is from, cause I already know it's 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐒𝐎𝐍. "Look you can't trust that person " they turn a blind eye and call out someone, someone I know all too well. A woman with dark brown hair, black eyes and has chocolate skin appears "Long time no see Candy, or should I call you siren? " my hands ball into fists and I can already sense the impending doom.

"Carla " I say with a smile " funny to see you here, I thought I finished you off" I can see how irritated she becomes "you come back to die for good this time " her smile drops while mine grows, I know I've gotten to her and any minute now it'll be a fight to the death.

"Give them what was promised " Carla shouts and her two bodyguards bring in Pearl "now that, that's done let's dance " she says as she stalks up to me, she manages to land a right hook and a left hook. Just as she's about to go for another right hook I block it and hit her in the stomach.

The fight goes on for a few more minutes, I'm keeping up pretty well at this rate, that is until Grayson comes into the mix. He puts me into a choke hold and my air supply is cut, the last thing I remember seeing is the image of my dead mother from that fateful day seven years ago...
