Rosalie's POV

March 26th, 2003

"How much longer are you going to be trapped in here?" Alice rolled her head on the back of the couch to look at Bella.

I snorted. "She's in hospital, Alice, not jail."

Not that I disagreed with the sentiment. It felt like she was trapped here, especially since we weren't allowed to stay with her. Logically I knew she was alright, but every time I closed my eyes, all I could see was my runes failing to keep the blood inside her as she bled out in the back of the truck.

"It's the same thing," Bella insisted. "The doctors already tried taking my chocolate," she scowled.

Alice sat up, eyes wide. "Did you kill them?"

I couldn't tell if she was worried we'd have to hide the bodies Bella had already stashed, or about the ones she would have if they'd been successful in taking her chocolate.

"No but I did threaten to tell Yvette they were denying me chocolate. Did you know she bullied all of them into letting her be my nurse?" Bella said delighted

I snickered and stretched my legs out to rest on the edge of her bed. "She is a gem." Then, more seriously, I added, "And I'm glad she's a witch. It makes it so much easier to trust her with your life when we aren't here.

Bella nodded. "Yes, and you'll never believe what I found out...or rather I made Edward find out while I rested."

I snorted at that. Apparently she and Edward had had a conversation a couple of days ago that had resulted in him doing everything Bella asked like a devoted puppy. More so than usual at least.

"I thought Yvette looked somewhat familiar, so I had Edward look into her family tree. The girl who warned us about the church in our first life, the French miss—do you recall?" When I shook my head Bella turned to Alice who nodded slowly. "She's Yvette's grandmother. Yvette was named after her. The girl married a witch and is still alive today as she and her husband married using the ceremony that ties your life forces together," Bella revealed.

"Are you serious?" Alice stared at her, shocked. "Shit!"

I squinted, trying to remember her face, but only drew up a blank. I could remember the girl coming in to warn us, but I couldn't recall her face for the life of me.

"They aren't really a close match looks wise but they have the same eyes and nose, and Yvette wears her hair in a similar style to the ones her grandmother wore back in the day. I say it's a bloody interesting coincidence." Bella shook her head, clearly still as surprised as we were by the turn of events. "I'm thinking about asking Yvette to invite her grandmother to visit—she's one of the better humans and I'm hoping she might know if anybody found where I buried our important things."

Alice whistled. "It truly is a small world."

I nodded. "That would be good. It'd be nice to thank the woman who tried to save us. And maybe she can tell us what things were like after we died." I snorted. "It would be nice if Victoria and the Pastard suffered afterwards."

Bella rolled her eyes. "I doubt it. The villagers probably praised them for getting rid of the 'devils spawn'," Bella sneered.

My lip curled. That was true. They'd probably thrown parties every year to celebrate the anniversary of how they 'defeated Satan'. I shook my head and returned to the original point of the conversation. "Does Yvette know about her ancestry?"

Bella chuckled. "Oh, she knew about her grandmother living in the village at the same time as us. Her grandmother used to tell stories of growing up in the village and her life after that all the time, but Yvette had no idea what her grandmother did for us until I mentioned it. Apparently her grandmother's favourite story is of how I apparently saved her from some pushy men at an assembly." She shrugged, grinning. "I don't recall doing so but Yvette insists it happened. And honestly scaring idiot men seems like something i would have been too happy to do—" Bella cut herself off as Edward chose that moment to walk in with two boxes of pizza and a large bottle of coke.
